Hey all , I'm curious as to what route I should take when supplying my amps for adequate power. I will be running 4 ms series amps in my car , stock alternator . Should I just upgrade alternator ? Can I get by with adding just a second battery like a kinetic? I also have a 15 farad alumapro cap . Upgrading my big 3 it already in the works . I have never run multiple amp of this caliber before and don't want any problems . Thanks

the 15f PG caps are prone to leak over time so i would not use it I would hate to see it start on fire when the car is off and you damage the other ms amps
.there is alway a large debate to use a cap or not
so i will not go into to that. but i might try one in my set up and if i notice a differnence i will keep it if not it goes

I don't suggest upgrading your alternator until you NEED to do so. A lot of people rush to upgrade an alternator and it is just a waste of money for them.

It all depends on what you plan to do with your stereo. If you want to enter SPL competitions then you will probably have to upgrade that alternator. If you just want a really good sounding stereo, and are running 4 amps for reasons such as bi-amping components, or adding midbass speakers, the stock alternator will probably do just fine.

The local stereo scene by me is pretty "ghetto", but I have seen many 140db systems with stock alternators in reasonably compact cars (with little alternators to begin with). If your needs are to hit 130db but sound as good as possible, you may never make use of an upgraded alternator.

One other thing to consider is to run a Class D sub amp and bury it in your installation since you probably plan to show off your MS amps.

With a Class D amp on bass duty you seldom need to upgrade an alternator. They are so much more efficient than Class A/B amps running subwoofers, you can get WAY louder with a lot less current draw.
