Okay heres a question for you super techies aka errin as hes the only real here thus far, but if any on else knows please help a brother out.
Acoustic foam in the box? I can't see how it could be bad by elminating the back waves, but it will effect the Q of your box I know that much. So if properly desinged for I onyl see this as a positive
Deaden the box I only see as a plus too as it will prevent the box from further resonate but may be over kill for well bracing box.
I know bracing helps more then anything and in all my boxes I usually add two extra interior T bracing like so(of course the bracing would have 2 4" holes in the middle of each side to allow for the air to flow...
What are types of bracing that work the best? And any real advatanges to the crazy bracing, that the you see in the dans installs. like
How the hell do you go about desing this stuff?
Also what are some negative effects of bracing with porting? I know that you can have problems with the ports unloading if the bracing is to close? So where is to close ect?

the whole principle behind bracing is to make the enclosure as rigid as
possible. the picture you posted is a good example of serious bracing
but i dont think that will work in a ported box because to much restriction
for the air to move.
keys to bracing is to brace any large surface area, make sure that
the brace is secure and do not block any airflow going to port
that is why i like to use vents in my boxes because they act like a brace
then you can build off of the vent to make the box even stronger.
just make sure you cover all large areas and do what i do
push on the boxes or stand on them and test the flex
flex is bad....

You may have subs in your car........but my doors sound better!
I typically will run two beams front to rear and one side to side and top to bottom.
If you were to use an acoustic foam inside that would be great, but a tad expensive in most cases as the break-up of the back wave is accomplished nearly the same by polyfil and/or fiberglass insulation.

I think we've established that "Ka Ka" and "Tukki Tukki" don't work.
actually I plain on using some crazy fiberglass insulation localy.VW337 wrote:I typically will run two beams front to rear and one side to side and top to bottom.

8lb mineral board, I recently did some test with it vs raammats ensolite foam, and deflex pads.
the mineral board was by far the best, next ensolite, then deflex.

from an insulation factory like 20 mins down the road from me. Not sure if home depot pr thos epalces sell it.brenzbmr@sb wrote:where do you get mineral board from
Its basically, like your normal 1-3lb mineral board but much thicker and dense thus better performance. Did I mention its cheap too like 30 for a holy piss load I forget the exact measurment on it.
If you go to a insulation specific shop they should have it.

i would think it would be a pain in the rear trying to figure out correct airspace with all that bracing wouldnt it?
