Line driver help needed

I have a Mac 500. Alec told me the preamp was bypassed to lower total harmonic distortion. Consequently my 4 V input signal is too low. I don't have enough line voltage to driving amp. Can someone make a suggestion on a line old driver that would be adequate? Looking for something simple and effective and relatively inexpensive. You can imagine my surprise when I hooked up the amplifier and had no real Sound level!
Thanks in advance,
Lance

Perhaps you can enumerate a bit on the advantages and disadvantages of a PLD vs TBA(t)?

I never had a TBA(t) set but since lance was asking for the cheaper method of signal level raising i suggested the PLD.

audio control overdrive will be the same
i went from the tld66 to the matrix as i like seeing the lights if it about to clip ect
i have used all pg item and audio control both are great items
i agree with joerg for the price a tld around $40 can't be beat

I have a 2 channel version of pg's I could part with, the TLD44. Make an offer if you are inerested.

Thanks ttocs,
I am currently running a three amp system, though honestly the MAC is the only amp that needs the line driver, I have been reading up on them and am tempted to drive all three signals. The cost difference between a 44 and 66 might be negligible, if I cant find a 66 I will hit you up on it.
Thanks,
Lance

Joerg,
Thanks for the correction, I was thinking 2 channel. O.K. Let me think about the system then. The tweets, honestly don't need a boost, the 275 is going to run them effortlessly. The sub will have it's hands full with the 2125 mono as well though I have read with the sub line boosted, it does make a difference with the amount of impact. Either way, I might be able to get away without boosting the tweet signal.
Thanks Joerg,
Let me give it some thought.

lol, no worries. it's actually better that it's a four channel than a two. I just have to figure out if I need a six or if the four will do the trick. Any input on the tweet amp benefiting from a line driver? I just don't know if it will make more of an impact because it's the highs and often noise is up top, or if it doesn't really matter since the tweets draw so little power the gains on the 275 probably won't be very high anyway. A pair of tweets is all the 275 is running.

not sure but you could aways get a line driver and swap the input/outputs to see if it make a big difference and if it does then get the 22. I don't think a tweeter would make a huge difference but never done it to be sure.
