An Elite.4 is on its way to Eric for a review.
I don't have an exact date on AIV stock status, I will try to find out.

When are you going to let one of the bass heads test and review a higher power mono block? Strong electrical here, a few runs of 0 guage. Or send some 15s to test out

Could post up some tl numbers with the amps powering my subs, or with my amps powering your subs

Just saying.. carry on

When can we expect the Elite subs to ship? I'd like to be the first (or at least one of the first) in TX to have one?

I don't know how much more PG amp testing I can do. I might have to invest in a lift truck just to move amps around.
This amp is built that STOUT...

I know I should not tease you guys like this, but I just cracked the amp open, and I may need to go clean my pants out...
...so far there is almost no limit to the positive aspects of this amp. Like anything I have my complaints, but I tend to be an anal bastard, and I really have to dig to come up with things to complain about.

maybe no gold boards.

Gold boards look pretty and all, but they don't improve the sound quality, and they tend to look nasty over time when exposed to dust, etc. Also, they are not nearly as durable. Modern boards are coated as a last step, and they are masked where areas are soldered. This makes for a much more durable board, which happens to also be easier to work on down the road (assuming it even needs to be worked on).
If PG went with a gold board, that would still be a good thing, but I just don't see it as necessary. Really a black coated board is very nice. PG went with blue, and that is not quite as good looking as black, but it is so subjective, does it really matter?

So I take it that the complaints were mainly cosmetic

We went blue because we liked the look, more importantly the traces were more easily visible from a manufacturing standpoint.
We use black boards on Ti series and and if you ever had to build or trouble shoot one of those amps you better have a good set of eyes.
Remember these amps are engineered like tanks to be "throw it off a cliff" then hook it back up reliable. None of the bugs that plagued the ZPA series.
I am biased, as I always liked the blue look of the Xenon boards. But that's just me.
Thanks again to Eric for making time to go through the amp.

Eric, do you plan on writing an elaborate review of the amp?

Yes indeed I am writing a review of the amp. I have taken a ton of photos, and I plan to do as extensive of testing as I have capability to do so.
An amp of this caliber has been a long time coming, and it deserves the maximum attention I can give it.

I will dig around for damping factor, but its a fairly useless spec that has been abused by marketing gurus.

Just not a fan of the spec.

Damping factor is just one way of saying how much feedback an amp uses. Some amp designers arent big fans of large amounts of feedback.
Anyways damping factor is calculated as a ratio between speaker impedance and amp internal impedance. So whether an amps internal impedance is one or five or ten milliohms doesnt make much difference because the speakers impedance is still there, present in the series circuit. A speakers impedance is in the order of thousands of milliohms.
What I'm trying to say is that damping factor is irrelevant and you can't judge an amps sound by its damping factor. You can't say that amps with high damping factors sound better or vice versa.
