wiring issue. need help
I am in the middle or rewiring my air ride. wanted to make it nice and neat for this summer. I am also about to install my new audio system. I picked up a Ti power core and am woundering since I will not be using all of the power and grounds on the power core if I can wire up my air compressors up to the power core?
Re: wiring issue. need help
yes it can be used as distribution the + and - blocks are just solid pieces

Re: wiring issue. need help
ok thats great. do you think I will get any feedback noise in the amps when the compressors are on?
Re: wiring issue. need help
it shouldn't but I am still going to mount mine as far away from the rca cables as I can.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.
Re: wiring issue. need help
I thought the Powercore was an accident waiting to happen?
Re: wiring issue. need help
ya the power core will be on the far side of the car from were the rcas are ran. lasst question do I run both power and ground from the battery to the core or just power and then ground it to the body?
I have taken the power core apart cleaned it and everything then put back together. I think its the 20's that were known to start fires

Re: wiring issue. need help
Shoot, if that is the case, I need to find myself a 15f then

Re: wiring issue. need help
thats what I have

Why do you ask?

Re: wiring issue. need help
Because I remember years ago, I was wanting one, but read something somewhere about them catching fire like the zpa's...Once I saw that, I figured it would be better to simply avoid them. If its the 20f that has the issue and not the 15f, then I will buy a 15f one day.
Re: wiring issue. need help
the 15 with the aluma pro cap inside is fine it was the 20s made from a bunch of small caps that were the problem
we have no feedback issues with our compressors and they are run off 1 commom buss bar
i personaly run both poss and neg to the power core from the battery then you know you have a good earth system as well as power and should have no further issues down the line
it costs a bit more but do it right and do it once!

Re: wiring issue. need help
the 15s have been known to corrode and stop working but I have not heard of any other issues. Caps are just not worth the $$$ to me other then for show get a big batt/alt and the problem is really solved.

Re: wiring issue. need help
it depends on what you are doing
i have custom power system , batt and 200a alt
i have 2 15f power cores
but the car is built for sq !!

Re: wiring issue. need help
SQ so your saying if you disconnect them then that you will hear the difference? They are neat to show and if you have the space for it and the money, great go for it but as for what it actually buys you............ Not much if anything.

Re: wiring issue. need help
Isn't it more or less a "buffer" to the input of the power supply to your amp? With an upgraded electrical system, I don't think you'd have an issue with spike's.
Re: wiring issue. need help
amplifiers are current driven, your cap(s) stores voltage... To a point yes you need caps on your amps power supply but to say that 30 farads isn't overkill idunno. I think you are talkin about preventing ripple voltage for SQ but again I want to shake the hand of the person that can hear the difference of when their cap is disconnected.

Re: wiring issue. need help
Not side stepping the electrical upgrades, but 1 farad covers up to 1000w (typically speaking) so technically wouldn't just using 1 of the powercore's be consider overkill, unless of course you've got a Ford Bronco full of subs?
Re: wiring issue. need help
Caps are good for filtering noise from the power system. It can make a difference in SQ if your equipment isnt high quality and suffers from the noise,
I once had a pretty crappy RTO made amp which sounded clearly better after I installed a 20 000uF cap on its power terminals. I'm pretty damn sure I wasn't just imagining it, the added clarity of the sound was very evident. I'm also pretty damn sure my phoenix gold amps would not benefit from a cap like this, because they have proper filtering in their power supply.
I have heard many people say that a small cap on the head units power line can improve sq.

Meaning install a cap on the HU itself?
Re: wiring issue. need help
i wont get into the whole why etc but i have them there being used and they are not hurting anything
when you are competing at top leval any little improvement can be the diferance between 1st and 2nd
and lets not forget there not bad looking lol!! and are handy for dist units

Re: wiring issue. need help
Whether its needed or not, I will eventually have one. Like you said, it makes for a good distro.
Re: wiring issue. need help
not necessarily true - we have had cases on here where the cap seemed to confuse the stock charging system and it led to strange power problems that while we could not explain, they went away when the cap was removed.longboard wrote:i wont get into the whole why etc but i have them there being used and they are not hurting anything
SQ competition circuit is full of snake oil. Hooking up a $$$ cap to a cheap amp to say it made it sound better is not going to cut it for me and is laughable at best honestly if we are now claiming they are for SQ reasons. Sounds like it sounded like chit before the install and after it maybe didn't possibly almost sound as much like chit but it also might have been the 4 beers drank during the install and the metallica talking to the beerlongboard wrote:when you are competing at top leval any little improvement can be the diferance between 1st and 2nd

IMO they are just one more piece of equipment that has a limited shelf life, extremely limited bang-fer-the-buck payback(if any really), and are known in some cases to cause problems and in all cases to eventually fail. I keep hearing theorys that people seem to pull out of their ass in order to justify them but don't pee on my leg and tell me its raining... The zero point distro's make great distro's, Do not fail, hold their value(almost doubled them now) and are not going to be a point you will have to trouble shoot later.

Re: wiring issue. need help
all great info. I'm still going to install it as I have never ran one before. see how it works out. also need something to help take up the space were the back seat was..lol
Re: wiring issue. need help
ah see now THAT I can completely understand, my eq215ix is where my seat use to be....
