Window modules

Post by Starunit10 »

Here's one for all you installer's. I picked up a compustar alarm/starter combo 2W900FM (AS) and it came with 2 FAI-2WM. These are window controll modules, I asked one shop about installing the package and they told me it only puts the window up or down not both. Is this correct? I have two modules, 4 windows and two aux channels on the alarm. I dont see why it wouldn't work up and down from the remote. each module say's it does two window's.

Any input ?

its listed as a roll-up module but with 2 of them you might be able to use one to put them down.

If you put both of the modules on the front windows they will roll up and down. One module for up on one channel, the other module for down on the other channel.I don't think you will be able to do all 4 windows with the setup you have.

That does not sound good at all....you might want to find something better.

Window modules can be a little misleading. The 2 window module only provides half the reverse polarity circuit needed to drive a window motor, that means each circuit can only drive a motor in one direction. The 2 window module is essentially a full circuit, so you can either roll 1 window up and down (using both half circuits for a full reverse polarity setup) or you can control two windows in a single direction (each using a half circuit). There are 4 window modules too, and these are the same except you can control 2 windows in both directions or 4 windows in a single direction, essentially 2 2-window modules in a single casing. Every alarm companies window modules operate like this, DEI included.

You can connect one module to the drivers front window, and the other module to the pass front window, and then use your two aux channels to control opening & closing windows.
Or you can connect the front windows to one module and the rear windows to the second module and use a single alarm aux channel to either open or close (but not both). To open/close all 4 windows you basically need a 2window module on each window.
