tantrum line driver
What is the difference in the tantrum line drive vs. PLD? They look identical.
Re: tantrum line driver
just a different series of products, same guts.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

The PLD says 100k ohm input impedance, pretty much the impedance of the average tube amp. If I had a processor that can handle 8 volts input, I'd prefer the PLD...

I was planning to do a tube preamp then was reading on the pros and cons with transistor preamps and tube preamps. One of the benefits was the high input impedance. So, I found the PLD1 has the same impedance as my tube preamp. I would like to have a PLD1 just because of that one feature that may not mean much, but the numbers are there...

Re: tantrum line driver
a pld1 will benefit you on zx amps and certainly on zpa amps. tba is even better.......
if you have a good headunit with 4V preoutputs, on M and M(P)S series, you don't need it.....
but indeed the name tantrum is just a logo , that's all.......

Re: tantrum line driver
I thought I remember a PG rep saying that many years ago when I worked for a dealer but wanted to be certain. The TI always shined when they had a higher input voltage. Will be running a tantrum line driver going to a EQ215ix then onto 2 xenons and 2 SD amps
