Hi Guys,
I`m up with some new subs in my car and have bought 2 Ground Zero GZRW30SPL EXTREME 1400W. These have a power handling of 1400W spl and 800-900w RMS. These are dual 2 ohms.
In my museum i have 3 Exile amps, one X24001. and two x1200.1. So the question is if i should use one x1200.1 on each 12" pushing 1200w ++ rms on each sub in 1 ohm or use the X2400.1 in 2 ohm pushing 1600w rms, 800w rms to each sub.
What to do?

What amps to choose, One Exile X2400.1 or two Exile X1200.1
Re: What amps to choose, One Exile X2400.1 or two Exile X120
aesthetics, space and current draw are pretty much the factor?
The first one is up to you as to what looks best.

The aesthetics and even the space is not really that important because the amp(s) will be hanging hidden on the backside of the Sub box.
Current draw is a factor yes, my car has a 150A alternator and a 100AH battery so the current availability is not that bad.
But i wonder what is the ultimate power availability for a subwoofer to play its optimal? Is it to have an amp that gives exact the same Rms power that the sub is rated to handle or is it smart to have an amp capable to give ex 50% more Rms power than the sub is rated to handle to have some headroom? Will there be a difference at all in the sq or spl with a to big amp or it it just wasted power?
thanks

Dunno man I was in this same boat recently. I was running 2 ab vfl100.1s (3k rms@ 2 ohm) and space in my car was at a premium. I know Im gonna have to do a 2 story amp rack anyways but I ended up with a single 150.1 ( 3krms ) because even with my 250 amp alt and 2 batteries the single amp drew like at the very least 40 amps less current.phonixx wrote:The aesthetics and even the space is not really that important because the amp(s) will be hanging hidden on the backside of the Sub box.

Running a stereo sub stage sounds amazing to me and at 4ohms it could only sound better. Given all choices Id run the 2 amps

Easy... If your electrical can support it, run both 1200.1s. More power is always a plus in my book. Worse case scenario, you can always back down on the gains...

Yes i agree, never to much power. Will try both 1200.1 Thanx for your replies
