it does but with that being said I still use one. The idea behind the line driver is to increase the signal output prior to getting any noise in the system so that the signal to noise ratio is lowered. If you put the pld in the back any noise that has been picked up will also be made louder just like the signal. Because of this the line driver needs to be as close as possible to the head unit in a way the 215 will have problems doing. So you don't need it but if you have the means I would recomend a line driver up front.

that would be cool although it would just make my passengers want to fiddle with it. That of course would end up with me cutting off their fingers and probably a few less friends for me.

see thats another thing, i dont have a headunit in there. my old one quit working, so i went straight ipod/iphone hooked up currently to a 3.5mm jack to rca, to a volume knob, to the 215ix(which is under the passenger seat) split up to a exile 600.4 and a 1200.1. i have a whine in there, and gonna see if i can reground the stuff, when i get the next day off with extra time on my hands.
im debating to get an audio control three.2/four.1, cause i still have that habit of reaching for the volume knob in the radio location. and would love the option of having both my iphone, and ipod hooked up for certain reasons. (i hardly ever take my ipod out, unless im syncing new music to it)or just getting another headunit, but for some reason i can justify myself in getting one. i dont own any cd's except for the ones that i need for computer reasons. i dont listen to the radio except if im in some other vehical, or im in a store.
i also want to relocate the eq into my headlining so i would have the ability to mess with it, instead of having to push the passenger seat up.

I took out the back seat in my mustang and mounted the 215ix dead center in it. Only takes a second to reach back lift the cover and make an adjustment if I felt the need. Didn't like the 8-10 times I put people back there anyway as all they do is complain and it sucked up front too. Of course its easier to do this being single and having no kids but those are the breaks.

Lol i hear ya. Im 36, with no kids or wife, and the only whine i have is from my stereo, but thats easy to get rid of. I drive a two door extra cab nissan frontier. If people wanna complain about the lack of room in my truck they can ride in the bed...but i also refuse to drive with my tonnue up. So they dont complain to much. Lol
Plus all my friends knows how serious i am about car audio, so if they dont like it, we can always ride in one of thier cars

if your just running straight ipod, really doesnt make a difference what you do sound wise, as your source sucks--- convenience yes, sq no- so a little noise one way or the other will not outweigh how bad your original source is anyway

Yeah i know im limited to sound quilty. I deliver pizzas full time and work part time at an audio shop. So when im cruising around slinging pizzas, it nice to know i can go a whole week without hearing the same song twice, unless one version is a remix or a live song. Yeah i spend no lie about 40/hrs a week in my truck. So to me not having to worry about wheres this cd's at, or ive already heard this song 3 times today from the radio.
Im not trying to really win any contest, i just want my stereo to sound pretty good for what my needs are.

I am using a teq6 and a 215ix, I just use the 215ix for crossover and bass knob mostly. Why not just grab a teq6 and mount it where your headunit was. Sonic electronics is selling it on the bay for $69. Much cheaper than an Audiocontrol, and still a nice piece. Also, makes no sense to get an eq with sub out as the 215ix only has 1 input.

Why would you need the aux in if youre only using your ipod? I am using a jvc deck with aux & usb in, works great with my evo.

why not looking for a good secondhand headunit for a good price ?

i use the acc turn on wire that would be connected to the headunit, to turn on my amps and eq. im just gonna ponder in buying a radio for a few more days. i work pt at a radio shop, for store credit. so i get really good discounts on jvc and kenwood headunits.
