Hey guys so as you from my recent post on the amp issues I had with my ti600 I have resolved them.

So I was bored a little while ago here at my plant and decided to take our DB meter we use to measure loudness of different areas of our facility and all for OSHA req.

I measured the level of my stereo. Here is a run down of my set up so you get what Im working with.

Everything is installed in a 2006 Toyota Runner Sport w a V8 and a 120 amp alt.
HU-Alpine CDA-9855
Signal Amp-PG TLD66
Sub Amp-Ti600.2
Mids Amp-Blk ZX450v2
Rear-Pioneer Premier TS-D720C
Front-PG RSd65C
Sub-Alpine Type-R SWR 12D2
Mobile Spec & Stinger
Custom PG RDDP

The SUb is a 12" in a spec built ported box.

The meter hit a peak of 115db.

What do yall think about this level with the set up I have installed?

Opinions PLEASE!!!!!

Thanks,

Jason

I think it should have been higher than 115db, what setting was the meter on and where did you take the readings ?

those handheld meters are not the same as an spl mic and are always off.

I placed it on the center of the dash and between the driver & passenger seat.

I know everyone loves the meters and all, but I only have two levels that I worry about.

115db is as loud as a loud rock concert. This is where most people listen to it unless they're showing off, maybe 118db-121db tops, and if they tell you different they're lying.
125db is when your ears begin to physically hurt.

Anything more than that is pointless except to show off speaker capability or to show that a system can play 118-121db sustained without batting an eye.

I have the 10" sub so i think the sub can be pushed harder but the number is not that bad. if your not a bass head and have it all set up with gain at a modest level like stryker said sound about right.

I like to be able to play MUSIC in the 135-140 db range with top on, windows up. Reason: delsol with top off and wind noise of interstate driving, rear window down, sides up... or about 35-45mph in town beltway speeds with all windows down. For closed top listening, it's never really above 120ish

I've never had it on a mic with top off and windows down, so I don't know how much that drops the volume level, just that at 135-140 settings, it's about right in various top down driving.

Furthermore, car choice makes a huge difference on what any given set of equipment can do. Same equipment in a friends scion xb would likely be far far far louder, as 600 watts on a single 12 is easily more than enough, and would take my two 10s and over 1000w of power to get most of what his can do. I've seen civic hatch with 250w on a single 10 do low 130s on test tones, and more than enough playing music. All depends on car, enclosure and efficiency/cabin gain.

If it sounds good on a background noise mic at 115db, I bet you're in the realm of what I find fun. Does it have that nice bouncy sound and make you giggle a bit playing weird al "plumber song" from off the deep end? If so: perfect! If not... Back to the trunk and figure out why... Heh.
