Phoenix Gold Phorum

As i'm sure most of you know, the PG ground blocks to match the various power distro's seem to be very hard to find. At least they have been for me

So i had me an idea:

If i bought two matching fused power distro's, would there be any drawback to having some slugs milled out (or bar stock) of brass that are the same size (length and diameter) as an AGU fuse? Ultimately using them to make the fused distro a straight through.

For this i am looking at the Tantrum style (square, clear plastic cover) distro as they are still readily available. I would love a matching pair of + & - but in the last year i have not found any on Ebay. I realize i missed an opportunity recently on here but they went fairly quick. Oh well.

I would just like to hear if anyone else has done this and any possible shortcomings. I will most likely be making some buss bars out of brass to span between my caps anyways so i thought i would get it all at the same time.

it'd probably work, but if you were going to go the machine shop route, you might be better off just having the entire block made from scratch to get exactly what you want.

you loose a little bit of voltage but you could just as easy put fuses in the ground block as well just to keep it all uniform and not notice any loss.

So a fuse will result in less or no voltage loss where a solid piece of brass would? Hmm, I thought for sure the brass would be a more efficient conductor than a fuse. Either way, its good news. I think i will go this route and then switch it out when i locate the desired ground block.

I've gone the route of using two positive distros and spanning the "ground" one with brass buss bars the size of AGU fuses. It's been working great for me for the last several years.

I was weighing out buying the matching grounding block 10 years ago when I bought the power distro block, but didnt see a point in wasting the money on a grounding block rather than just finding a good grounding point in the car. I see a point if they will be displayed.
