Has anyone ever used any SAS?

I picked up a set of SAS Euphonic 5.25" components with 1" tweets the other day because they came included in a deal on another set of speakers for a co-worker. I have no experience with this brand. They are definitely old school enough for my install but dont want to install junk, lol. Thanks

I always had good luck with the old school SAS/Bazooka stuff. I guess it depends on how old school they are as to the quality. The last SAS product I had was one of those nitrous bottle looking Bazookas years ago when they first came out and it was pretty but junk.

I always viewed the bazooka SAS stuff as sort of low grade. When they first came out with the powered plug and play bass tubes everyone was in love with them because they were convenient and easy. Mostly they were aimed at non-car audio enthusiasts, and they sold the hell out of them. As far as I'm concerned it was downhill from there, and I don't know of anyone personally that had a serious system built around that gear. I'm sure there were some somewhere, but I never saw or heard about one.

I had a set of the original bazookas back in the early 90s that I liked mainly because of lack of space in my ranger. But I have never played their componants and they all came a long time after I used SAS.

Hmmm, sounds like there is not much love for these, lol. I did not realize SAS and Bazooka were the same company. I have never been a fan of the 'tubes.

SAS has had their hands in a lot of lines. In my ranger the old 6.5 bazooka's sounded better then the 8" JL's I replaced them with later. just to piss me off even more a friend bought them, threw them into the hatch of his 91 firebird and it was crazy how much better they sounded in there... This again though was long before the NOS bottles and they were a fairly popular choice at least around here(Midwest).

I say hook them up and run them through there paces. Only way to tell anything about them. I bought a set of MTX separates nib for $50. Not the best sound,but they work in my big blazer.Not that you can hear much over the 10.75:1 383 3" exhaust,flowmasters and geardrive,lol.

The biggest 2 systems I saw back in the day both belonged to my cousins.A local shop sold Bazookas and they were the best subs they sold so we seen a lot of them there.

Tim had 2 pairs of 8s and 2 Punch 150s behind the seats of an S10.You could hear him coming literally a mile away when he turned onto our road. Tim was about 6'3" so you can imagine how hillarious it was watching him get in and out of that thing,grinning like a possum!

Rodney had 4 10" Bazookas on 1 Punch 150 in the hatch of a 89 escort GT.In my opinion it sounded a lot better than Tims,a lot cleaner!

Back in the day it was hard to beat a 10 bazooka in the hatch of a 82-92 Camaro or Firebird.The only single sub in these cars I heard that sounded better was a guy in Morristown had an 8" SEAS sub in probably a 1.5-2 cuft box over rear axle hooked to a Kenwood 1021. I still to this day have not been impressed by any other sub as much I was with that SEAS. I know there IS better but out of the box it just looked like any other sub.Stamped basket,Regular sized magnet.Nothing extraordinary except for the sound.
