Need help with an elite 12" sub

Alright so this summer i plan on putting an Elite 12 inch subwoofer in my 2000 Nissan Maxima.

so far i have bought the subwoofer and a deck, i still have to buy a box, eq, epicenter, and installation stuff

so that leaves me with a 300-400$ budget for my amplifier, does anybody know of what phoenix amps i could acquire that can meet 1600

watt rms of the sub, any help would be appreciated

On that budget it's hard to say as the sub would be run at a 2ohm load, but as Morgan stated the subs operating range is 1000-1600wrms. Most of the newer PG amps run full power at a 1ohm load, so you could try and find a used TI1500.1 or and old-skool TI1200.1. Are you dead set on a PG amp to run it, if not, there's some good amps out there for that price range that can drive the Elite.

On the newly discontinued Ti's they are rated at dynamic power, not rms, so I'd venture that the 1500.1 would be too small. I'd be looking for the 2500.1 if it were me. There is a 2500.1 and 800.4 on ebay together that is about to "no sale" for $800 buy it now (expires in 8 minutes). http://www.ebay.com/itm/Phoenix-Gold-Ti ... 1c34151334

If in fact it does not sell, and I'm sure it won't, you might message the guy, or just watch for him to re-list, and maybe he'll do them separately. Or......you could do some odd jobs and make $400 more somehow and buy them both.

You couldn't tell me what the outside diameter of that Elite 12 is could you? I am trying to design a box for 4 of them, and I need to know how much space I need between them on the baffle. Space is tight. Thanks!

i saw that on ebay, and i wouldn't know but other pg enthusiasts would know, hell the owners manual for it on the website would probably have all the dimensions

There's a Tantrum 1200.1 on Ebay right now or you could see if anyone on the Phorum has any old-skool amps, such as the Tantrum 1200.1, TI 1000.2, 1200.1 and so on as your budget would score you a great older amp to run the new Elite12D.

In that iteration they were. If you click on the "products" link, and then "amplifiers", nowhere on that page will you find the Ti amps, only the Ti2 amps. Ti2 is an entirely new line from the Ti's. They still have information available for the retailers, but the Ti's are most definitely being phased out. The Ti2 amps are all Class D, and roughly 1/3 the size of the Ti amps, so saying they were "updated" is laughable, unless by "updated" you mean completely redesigned to where they no longer resemble the last generation of Ti amps whatsoever.

It isn't because the Ti's were bad amps, they were actually very good. Phoenix Gold just perfected their class d amps, and when they did that it made the Ti amps obsolete. Why buy a big Ti800.4 when you can get more power output with the same level of distortion from a Ti21000.4, and it is only 11.7" x 7.1" x 2". It's hard to comprehend just how small that really is until you actually see one. I was looking at my installer's sound board and I said to myself, "how cute is that little amp", and I looked closer and I was like, "WTF!? That's the new Ti2 4 channel!". It was mounted beside an SD200.2, and it wasn't much bigger than it, but the SD200.2 is a toy compared to the RMS output of the Ti2 four channel.

I'd say that 1100-1200 watts would be just fine on the bottom end though.

My big gripe with the Elite 12's has always been that they are only dual 4 ohm, and Phoenix Gold amps don't make their power at 2 ohm. It's hard to find an amp in the current PG line that will make the needed power to run a single Elite 12. Supposedly they have a dual 2 ohm version coming out around Q3 though.

That said I have seen a couple people on here talking about running single Elite 12's off the 750 watts from the Elite.5, so I'd say it has a lot to do with listening tastes.

Alright so recently my godfather sold his 1999 chevy silverado, and if i remember right the system was 4 of the titanium 15s and i think he had a ti1200 and i think a couple ti500.4s i could possibly ask the new owner if hed sell, but with an aged system, i do remember one of the amps being fried, dont remember which one but along with that even if it wasnt he ti1200.1 that im after, even if i were to acquire it how much would maintenance be on it? the system has been in since early 2001

I'd recommend Increasing the budget before I'd go with a non-Phoenix Gold amp myself. The amps are why you go with Phoenix Gold products, not the subs.
