Rsdc12 Enclosure Sizing

What can I expect if I install an rsdc124 in a .9 cubic foot enclosure?

This volume is more in line with the spl enclosure recommendations from the rsdc manual. If that recommendation is accurate, what would I be losing out on in my lower frequencies? How does the SQ suffer?

I am considering going from an rsdc102 in a .9 volume audio integrations enclosure (foam blocks to lessen the volume) to an rsdc124 in a .9 volume wicked cas enclosure (close to recommended spl volume after driver displacement).

I'd say you will see a very stiff drop off under the 55-60hz range. The notes that it does play will likely be very stiff and impactful, and probably won't have any warmth or boominess to them. In my opinion I think you'll get better SQ out of the ten in that enclosure. I can't speak for you, but I wouldn't be happy with a sealed SPL size enclosure. The benefits of going sealed is the better sound quality, and if you are going to give that up for more SPL in a small sealed box, you might as well take that 10" you've got and port it.

A ported 10" would sound better than a 12" in a sealed SPL size box, and have more output.

Bummer, I definitely don't think I want to go this route then, i just realized the volume could be an issue thinking through everything last night. I love the fitted enclosures because they are easy and space saving, but that isn't worth sacraficing the sound quality I'm probably getting with the 10 now.

You can always invert mount the sub if you have the space to maximize your box space by taking the motor assembly out of it. Will not make huge difference but it will make a difference.

You could also get a pair of twelves and run them isobaric in that 0.9 Cu. Box as well, if you have room to run one inverted, and the ability to take your amp's ohmload load down a notch. That would sound good in that space.

I think I'm gonna end up doing a dual 10s angled box behind my back seat since I already have 2 RSDC102's. These will be seeing 600 watts a piece from an HD1200/1. Not as clean as my fitted single 10" box, but I think it will give me the output I am looking for.

I had an opportunity to grab a single RSDC12 and I would pick up a single 12 angled enclosure and put it behind the seat, but that would cost more since I'd need to buy the sub and box.

Dual 10's will still leave me a lot of trunk space, and relocated amps will give me back my folded down seat cargo area. Worst case scenario, I could still take the dual 10s enclosure out pretty easily and quickly.
