What kind of tape to use while glassing/bondo ?

Quick easy questions:

For example, what are these guys using ? Would that Green frog painters tape from Home Depot be good enough ? I see they wrap their Ipad/Nexus in tape then use it to glass around. I assume the tape is sufficient to prevent liquid resin from getting all over the tablet ? What do you suggest ? I was thinking of putting an additional layer of plastic wrap as the base layer around the tablet to provide a water tight barrier against the resin/bondo. Do I need any release agent or will this stuff not stick to the painter's tape ?

With a small project like just forming a backing plate / surround, can I do this in the basement without stinking up the house ? Its at the freezing mark here and I'd rather work inside than out. What's the coldest you can work with glass/bondo anyway ?

I normally use aluminum foil and tape myself. The resin will get hot as it cures and the heat can cause the tapes adhesive to get soft and not hold as well and then can can leave a mess too clean up.
