Elite12d4 enclosure design.

Hi guys, I finally have all four elite12 subs I wanted for my install.

Is there anyone that would be willing to design an enclosure for me?

Computers and I don't get along, so I'm not going to try and figure out a program to build one box.

The manual gives specs for several box designs that I could go with, I just don't know what way to go.

I want very good sq but I do listen to a lot of dub step, rap, and old techno. So I also want lots of low end and volume as well.

I have a bass cube so that should help a bit if a sealed box works best.

I am willing to pay for some time if required to get this going. I know I could "just build a box" but as far as graphs and specs go I don't understand any of that tech stuff. It would be nice to know before I build what to expect.

As much as I would have liked a bigger enclosure for my pair, you don't necessarily need it for these subs. The smallest recommended enclosure is 1.75 cf tuned at 36, and I heard a pair in a Dodge Dart in 3.5 cubic feet tuned at 36 running off a Ti2500.1 that sounded good, and I have a pair in 3.5 cubic feet tuned at 36 running off an Elite.1, and it is surprisingly to me, VERY musical. I listen to a lot of rock and metal, so handling kick drums is important, as well as properly handling the beats from a rapid double bass drum, and it does that well in the small enclosure. I also listen to a lot of dubstep, and it hammers everything I throw at it, including Rubberbands by Downlink, Guilt by Nero, and the entire Invasion album by Destroid.

You don't need the huge box, but you have more space than I do too. That being said, I looked at mounting four twelves right in the back window a while back, and it doesn't fit. How are you wanting them to fire?

In another thread he said he is putting a camper shell over the bed and doing away with the back window. A hybrid blow through of sorts.

I was considering doing something similar with 4 Elite 12's, and when I measured the window I found that the center of the window was 14" high, but the outside edges were only 12" high. The outer diameter of the Elite 12 is 13". You can barely get a pair in the middle, but you won't get four, forget about running the 120 square inch port through the window. You almost have to mount the subs under the window firing up, and do something to sort of force the sound through the window, but at some point that becomes a bandpass and the whole thing gets complicated when you consider you have nearly 10,000 watts in a bandpass enclosure. (I've seen clamp tests on the Elite.1 doing 5-6,000 watts at 1 ohm)

The other option is simply put a thick wall from floor to ceiling on the tailgate side of the enclosure to partition it from the rest of the bed. In that scenario I think you'd need to cut the cab and feed the ports through, and then it becomes a true blowthrough. Otherwise you'll lose so much sound inside of the camper shell that you'd be better off with a pair in the cab.

That was where my line of thinking was, and is ultimately why I opted to convert my 60/40 bench into buckets, and put a pair of Elites between them.

Yes I will be adding the topper. So my thinking is everything in the back. I'm not worried to much about the window size as I can recess the subs and do a couple angles to get the subs to fit and look good. Two elite.4's behind the seat and "the one" flush mounted in a rack or deck just inside window of topper overtop of the battery rack. I don't care about not seeing the back as I have a trailer hooked up 9x outta 10 and can't see out the back anyway.
But mostly I just need a design done if anyone is up for the task.

If that 8,000 watts at 2 ohms is underrated like every other high end PG amp it might end up cooking those drivers. My subs get hotter than either of my amps.

Below is kind of what I roughed up when I was looking at doing mine that way. The model has some flaws as I changed to the console idea mid stream and never bothered to finish it. as I recall I was building for the normal size enclosure at the time, so without taking time to measure it I'm going to guess that it's 9 cubic. The port is 39.75" x 3.5" and 28" long, which is admittedly too small. I was trying to make it fit within the space I had. One thing to consider though is that your truck is bigger than mine, and I have no idea what kind of bed liner you have or don't have, so the measurements will be different. You'll have to get some measurements of the space you want to use. I very seriously doubt that box will work for you because you have battery racks and stuff back there too. Reality is that box wouldn't work at all, which is why I changed up, but it might give you an idea of what you want to do.
