Tantrum 600.4 help

I'm wondering :
A) if it would harm the amp if I used an 8ohm load front left and right channels
And 2ohm bridged rear channels.

Reason is I'm just thinking of using a set of cerwin vega home speakers and a 12"dd sub on my test bench that I have extra kicking around.
Or I could use a pair of ti10d4 to get a 4ohm load.
Not sure what's best on this little amp.Image

Ya I'm trying out some of my gear in the stash. Just wasn't sure if it's safe to run the speakers I have already.

Am pretty sure a 2ohm bridged load will kill it. 4ohm will be minimum when bridged.

Looking at the spec sheet it states it can handle a 1-ohm stereo load and 2-ohm mono/bridge load. I personally wouldn't try it, but it should be able to handle it. Just don't expect any extra power.

Thanks for the info. Just sucks because all I have are dual 4ohm subs .

if you make sure it has its own 4gauge or better, and is installed in a way to keep it cool (fans aren't a bad idea)

it should be fine to run it at 2ohms as long as you dont hammer on it

Ok. So been playing with this amp for a bit today. Puts out pretty good for a little amp. Would be pretty loud in a car I think. Rockin the shop pretty good.
But........ I discovered an issue with the rear frequency knob/pot.
When I try to adjust the sub goes into convulsions, lol. Does this mean it needs to be replaced? And if yes. Is it hard to replace?

I'd give a shot at hitting it with deoxit gold first, won't hurt. If it really needs replaced it should be 3 joints to desolder/solder I'm guessing. The one time I took my 2 channel Tantrum apart I remember swearing a lot though.

I repaired a 200.2 tantrum and it was pretty easy and simple to disassemble and re assemble. So don't think you'll have a hard removing the pot if it is an issue, mouser has them in stock in case the deoxit doesn't work....fingers crossed.
