After a late night at the prototype lab...

Post by yeddy »

I'm still playing around with things... next try will be some lightly smoked instead of clear.

Laser engraved? Edge lighting that could really make the engraving pop & doesnt take much light at all.

That was 24" wide & lit up with 6-8 LEDs on each end only.

Yes it was all done by laser. That looks so nice! That was in my original plans, I just couldn't wait to post some pix.

That looks really nice. If I ever go with elites I mig do that but use the ZPA style logo...nice mix of new and old.

I'd leave it clear or maybe a blue tinted plexi. That board needs to be shown off.
A few of these and a few of those.

What I love about seeing the guts of an amp is all the colors of the components. Adding a blue plexi may just obscure the visibility of the components & still not pop the engraved portion. A smoked or very light grey plexi would be pretty cool, but still fairly difficult to see through unless you put lights inside the amp case. With the smoked you wouldnt have to worry about getting the light into the plexi, just light up the inside of the case with a white or blue LED setup & the engraving would read dark while you see through the rest.

What I liked about the setup I posted pics of was how the plexi took on a blue tint with the lights on & the engraving is very clearly blue, but when the lights are off the engraving is much more subtle.

I would go with a bigger logo myself. I don't think anyone is going to get down to study the board, its more of just a "LOOK AT THIS SHTUFF" kind of thing. Also remember if you do a different color it might look funky, or it might look cool with the blue leds in the middle lighting part of it up and the other color lighting the rest up.

Personally I say smoke the top just slightly(not as dark as the factory tint), etch the back and then the letters will really pop...
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.
