Phoenix Gold Subs and "Bass I Love You"

Post by Wigzter »

Okay so such a well known song in car audio brings up a question concerning Phoenix Gold subs.

After doing research I found that 36hz, 34hz, 33hz, 31hz, 17hz, and 7hz are the notes in that song.

I'm assuming that 17Hz is the largest excursion one I see from most subs that try to play it. While the 7Hz note is more than likely cutoff due to the Subsonic Filter on most amps. However the frequency range on PG subs start at 20hz, even the Elite subs.

So should I not be playing this song on my Ti2's?

Or just be really careful about it because even in the manual for the Ti2 it recommends the SSF between 25-35Hz.

Your enclosure determines what fhz your subwoofer can efficiently produce.

I've played that song so many times on so many PG subs...

Be careful if you've got a ported box. The good news is on the ultra low frequencies, you can hear the sub hitting its mechanical limits much easier, because you can't hear the bass as much!
