Hello
I finally got some mcintosh amps
I just got a mc420 and mc427
The 427 is a 100x2 2 channel
Amp just wondering what the rms power is 4 ohm bridged
Also what is a great loud great sounding old school sub that can hit some lows for rap..

Don't remember the ratings but the Mac amp are some of the cleanest I've ever heard. Congrats on the score.

Nice amps.

I think it's just 200 x1, but super clean.

Some good old school subs that I like are:
-jl audio w6 (version 1 or version 2)
-eclipse 8800 series aluminum cone (what I'm about to install myself)
-eclipse 98000 (I think it's called this) titanium cone
-ppi pro series (not the later version but the original version)
-Treo csx or SS series

I'm sure there's more. Why do you want old school? Not knocking you as I prefer old school subs too, just asking.

SS reference subs or kicker solo barics! Would be my vote.

I always liked the old alpine type-r. First or second gen. Same sub but the second gen didn't have the tinsel lead breaking problem.

since the amp is not 2ohm bridged mono I was thinking a set of old school 10 or 12" 8ohm speakers
I still love sealed
I believe and maybe wrong but the amp will do 400 rms and are underrated but clean as they get

I loved c12 kicker second gen I really didn't like the solo
first small sub box but didn't have the volume I like
I tried soundstream ss(not blue velvet) 10" dvc about 5 years ago
nice punchy but no low end
like the first gen jl 12w0-8 but finding them clean and no foam problem might be a problem

other ideas???
I will sell my boston spg555 to get the right subs lmk

I don't think the macs are really under rated. I never tested mine but it seemed to put out the power it was rated at.

I will agree with the solobaric idea, I always liked them.

What about the Phoenix gold Xmax? I liked my 12 but I dont think I really gave it a fair shot. I still have it so I might build a basic box for it to do an A B worth other subs.

Sounds like a plan.

Did you get the 12.5lf off eBay? I was watching that. I've loved boston speakers ever, since I ran the pro5.5 from that same generation. Excellent musical speakers. Not sure why I didnt suggest it to begin with.
