AC to DC Converter

Hey Guys,

Where and what kind of AC to DC converter should I get? Im going to do a car audio set up in my garage. I have a RF 200.4 4ch punch amp Im going to use to drive a 3 way setup. 2ch for mids and highs and 2ch bridged for sub duty. I have a spare 225CCA battery. RF says this amp needs a 30amp fuse I wont ever drive the amp to full output/draw so I was thinking a 20A converter should do.

Ive never done a "DC"setup off ac suply, so I kinda need some direction here guys.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks

You'd need a DC power supply. They are rated by current draw, so figure out what current you will be running and get one that matches. I havnt done this much and I'm sure some others will chime in, but you can also add a DC battery to help buffer it a bit.

So aside from the amp, are you going to run a car head unit or a home preamp or an iPod?

If its for music and strictly listening to music, then you will either want a very silent power supply (other wise you will have to place it in another area and run 4g wires to your amplifier rack). I would say a 50amp power supply should be plenty if your just going to listen to music....NOT for checking total output of an amp.

Meters are nice, so if it has a volt and amperage meter than add points to those PS when choosing.

From what I've heard the Astron are pretty silent.

Thats one sexy beast....if it was double the output and same price I would be all over it.

That seems a lil pricey for me weak, im not gonna do any bench testing, itll b primarily for listening to music while im in the garage and some small testing when needing to check used amps i get. Theres on on the bay for like $200 i think ill copy a link later and see what yall think.

Like i said in my op itll be to power a rf 4 ch amp that draws 30a peak. I might have playing around 15a draw at most so.

Any other suggestions?

I use kinetic power supplies and batteries together. Works very well. So far it's worked well for everything I've thrown at it.

They cost me about $325 ea. but they've been going solid for about 2years now. At 80amps, they keep my batts at 13.7v.
