Are you looking at the ones on eBay? I've been watching those, just from a collectors standpoint. For some reason several pairs of 5.25" speakers have been on eBay over the last year, but never the 6.5" or the tweeters from the set.
A few of these and a few of those.

I had a set of the 6 in separates in my wife's car and they sounded good. I wasn't blown away by the sound. Mid bass was ok not huge. The speakers on the other hand are. Like 5 or 6 in deep if I remember right. I hear they are better with an enclosure but I'm not sure how you could build one with the speaker already that big.

I love them. I compare them to the Boston comps everyone loves so much. I had a set of the 5 1/4" comps but sold them to fund the purchase of a set of the 6 1/2" comps.

You want a great set of mids for under $100, look into the 6 1/2" Silver Flutes from madisound.com
I compare those to the Hybrid Audio L6's.

I didn't like them
Sounded ok pain to mount being so deep and little mid bass. I had a couple fail for no reason
They got replaced but there is a lot better for less

We had them at the shop I worked at and I think I can remember installing one set for a guy that was dead set on pg speakers to match his subs. It was a tough sale when you compared them to ID in the board right next to them. I think I even remember liking the alpine componants slightly better but its been a while.

Actually I built a set for a CES (I think 1997) white pearl enclosure similar to Wilson Watts Tots. 2 Layers of Ranger Board (non of that wussy MDF) 2.5 inches think on all walls, BRACED internally. Dom built custom crossovers (because of the on-axis design of home speakers, different that the car ones)

Took me 6 days to shoot the pearl paint. All a few days before CES. We also sublimated the bass by using a enclosure I designed using 1 inch thick Plex with a Cyclone in it. Sounded unbelievable. A 2.1 system. Spacious, wide, open clean....

They were REALLY good speakers. Way too deep. I thought if I built the super bitchin component system no one would care that they had to built door panels. Wow, was I wrong (not the first time...I was the one that got us to to the Cyclone too, buy the rights...whoa was that a colossal waste of money. Killer product, just not for car)

Like I say in my seminars...I went to MIT..you know......Mistakes I've Tried. I made a few of them :)

Awesome speakers! I have a set of 8" Silver Flutes going in the doors of my Corvette. I am using them with SEAS Prestige tweeters and running an active setup. Amp is a ZX950. The ZX500 channels will power the mids, channels 1&2 of the ZX450 will power the tweeters and channels 3&4 will be bridged to a 12" Onyx sub. I have an Audison bit ten for processing. Just need to find time to finish the install.

That's good, let us know what you think. I've run 160w each to mine, 0 issues. Note: they NEED to be sealed or put in a ported box, I forgot to mention, they don't do well IB.

I still linger, my main focus has shifted to old school car audio and an mostly on Facebook in the OS group. I still love my PG and wouldn't mind getting some more, but my Clarion and LANZAR addiction has really taken off.

Forgot to add, this is my home on the net, it's the first place I've really ever felt welcome online and there's a lot of good people here. This place will always have a spot in my heart.
