Todays subs

What is your thoughts on todays subs? I am looking to do a single shallow mount 10 in my truck, I have about .6 cubic feet of space in the box. Will it really matter if I go with single or dual voice coils. 4ohm final would be best if possible. (Thinking of using my M-100) What would be the preferred brand also? And does anyone know somebody that can build a custom enclosure under the back seats for a amp rack? 2015 F-250 Crew cab. The sub is going behind the seats. I am really brain farting trying to decide how to build this system. Its been a LOOOOOOOOOOOng time since I have done this!

Any help from you guys would be great.

I would really go to some shops or best buy and look at the alpine type r's, theres a new shallow mount version, try to find one where u can listen to it. They are the only shallow mounts and reg new subs id buy. They are clean, tight and loud. They always have twice the output in a ported app. Really look and listen to them and then buy it offline local shops gouge on pricing for them btw

I have the jl tw3 flat 12's and like them. Kinda expensive though.

No question si
It's a 12 but will fit in that airspace, bridge the m100 and series the coils

A beefy sub for sure! I am trying to find some more info on them I looked at their web site I just need to make sure that I have a 4ohm final. I will be calling them tomorrow for more info. Thanks Bro, never heard of them before, but they seem to be making some kick ass subs!

They are dual 4, but an m100 bridged to an 8 ohm load should team up well.
There is a ton on
www.diymobileaudio.com for info, reviews and discussions on si products

I have one of the alpine type-r 12's. It sounds great. The problem with this and most shallow mount subs is that they require just as much air space as their regular depth counterparts. The only benefit is the ability to be mounted with less depth like behind/under seats.
Still the type-r 12 wails pretty good over all.

The SI BM was lame, installed a pair of them in a 4dr F150 & they left a lot to be desired considering the hype online & hefty price tag.
I would second the shallow Alpine's if you have to run a shallow sub.

Good to know! I had a type S alpine in my last truck that did very well. I guess maybe I should stick to what I know Alpine or JL. I will be running 2 sets of type R components in the doors. My guess is I will need to run a Type R, I will be running it with a MPS2500.

Id make sure u run the shallow type r at 4ohm load, unless u run 2 subs then a 2ohm load, a single at 2 ohm would be killed on that amp

My thought were to back it way down. I am thinking either the R type or a JL 10TW3 (Prefer the JL) it should make the amp run barely off idle and nice and cool! Am I wrong? Any help with this is always appreciated.

is correct.....but just having 0.6 cuft of space will never be enough to fit a sub that can handle the power of a m100....
shallow i would go with the tw3 (heard them play personally and was impressed)

even a m50 will be enough..... (or use the m100 at 8 ohm brigded to keep the amp cool )

Thought about using my M-100 but I decided to go with my MPS2500 for sub and MQ430 for doors I didn't want to mismatch! How well do you think the MPS will do on the JL? On my bench right now just finished the recap and she is ready to go!

I would usr the m100 at 2ohms just keep it cool and the jl tw3 will sound great with 500plus watts going to it

if your looking for a pretty heavy duty shallow 12 inch sub, Rockford has the new t1 shallow coming out end of year or jan. it looks pretty good and has same excursion/power handling as regular t1. I seen it last year in prototype stage and its very cool how they got all that excursion into that sub.

Well I finished the install this past weekend, I went with the JL Powered with the MPS2500. Holy Shit it hits hard, not that boomy bass its that punch you in the gut type of bass! I put in Tom Sawyer by Rush I had to back the 2500 way down. Only running at a 1/4 on the gain!
