Hi, i just bought an PG SD500/4 but i now can get a PG ms275 with new caps and very well looked after.
I have a new set of Audison voce AV K6 125WRMS 91db component set that i will use, i had a ZX450 many years ago and i loved it.

My question is:how does the sd500/4 compare to the ms275 is the ms worth paying 240$ for its in real good condition, have any of you tried the sd500/4?

Sorry if my english writing skills are bad im from Norway :D

I have used most of pg amps they sound almost all the same they sound like a pg amp should.
so I would use the sd500/4
for size and power its hard to beat

don't get me wrong love the ms but the ms275 is not a power house

I bought the sd500 on ebay from the USA, they got a new shipping where you pay the import charges to ebay and then the seller ships item to ebay who ships it to me.
The stupid thing is the import charges and VAT are so expensive in Norway so i almost payed the same for shipping and customs as i payed for the amplifier.
The only reason i bought it is that the PG amps are much cheaper from USA then they are in Norway and i cant find a dealership for PG in Norway.

I know there was a company that sold PG amp 17years ago, a friend bought a M44 and the price was sick but it sounded real good i remember he had it mounted in the rear window.

Thank you for the tip about sending it via a member here on the forum :D , i will see if i can buy from a member here i will have look in the for sale section

was it bad enough to consider sending the board and the case separately as non-functioning parts instead of a good amp?

I've owned a SD500.4 and I currently own an SD1300.5. The SD's sound good, you will not be disappointed in the quality.

Its better to write that its broken and write it under 25$ in value then its free from any vat and fees, i always ask the ebay seller if the can send it as gift, sampler or with low value but its against ebay rules.

they sound like hertz component sets hsk. A bit dry sound in my opinion. I was looking at them, but change my mind to scan speak Revelator and Illuminator tweeter.

Hertz and audison is the same company many of the speakers are the same but i cant find hertz that are the same as Voce AV K6, these won the EISA award for best "in car speaker system" but this was in 2011
For my use they are more then good enough, i was going to buy the new focal PS165F flax cone but i got a deal on the Audison.

Cant wait to get the amplifer now, im gonna need more dampening mats and they are not cheap over here, i got enough for the front doors and some for the boot but im thinking about doing the roof and wheel arches to.

the antivibration material best working with other sound deadning materials, foam material and sound reflective material (ccfl). I always put damping on door card too.

The mats i got is made in alybutyl and foam, in my doors on the alfa romeo 156 there are no doorcard that i can take of its all in one piece but i will take the inside and outside.
There are big holes in the built in door card will that affect the sound in a negative way?, i can take a picture of the door in a bit and post it.

By doorcard you mean the plate window motor and window lifter is mounted to?,
Thanks for your help :-)

it goes like that: one layer inside doors of antivibration mat, then goes special foam to prevent speaker form resonance and extra distortion behind the speaker, i use extra layer behind the speaker with wavy surface its even better than flat. ant then surface between door card, one layer of antivibration, use extra damping mat around speaker 15 cm to prevent vibrations to further door places. for big holes i try to make a covering, that in the furure would'nt be a problem to take out glass if needed. and then goes ccfl 4 mm. mat. its like sound reflecting. and the door card always takes a full deadning covering. :) sory maybe its boring for other that have don this job for many times. ading some pics:

Thats dedicated building, i will go back to the drawing board then lol.
I will buy some foam and i got some cross patern material so i will put that in the back of speakers.

I see i got a big problem i cant mount the speakers on the doorplate the way it is now, it looks like i must weld a ring in so i can moumt the speaker on the ring.
The old speakers was mounted in the door card and im affraid it will cause much vibration, it so soft and its only mounted with small screws.
I will have to sleep on it but it looks like the only way it will sound and look good, i just orderd 4m X 4m with sound dampening and 1,5m X 1,5m with foam.
Im sorry about the metric measure :D

you can take a picture and post here. for my car i had to cut all the unnecessary plastic to mount the ring from mdf on the metal surface and its possible to make your own custom grills. definitely some angle about 25 to 30 degree to midwoofer would be better to listener, you win more low frequencies and mid frequencies, of course its much more work to do that ;)

forgot to mention, dont stop water drain in the doors with foam or damping, just keep 2 cm up from the bottom of the doors.

i have seen them selling only mdf rings, but i never bought from internet, i do it my self and all the pod i try to do only with mdf. having one ring mounted straight and other with angle between them i use appropriate shape mdf detail. lots of cutting, sanding, till it fits perfecly. i could help you if you were closer to me :)
