The silk screening is diffrent because they are from two diffrent generations. The pg logo is the new generation logo, and the phoenix gold logo is from the 90's generation.

PG has gone through several logo changes. The ZXti came out during the squiggly era and then the titanium series came out during the other logo (surfboard logo?)

Same thing happened with the black ones... Available in a couple of different logos. The squiggly logos seem to sell for more, not sure why other than me collecting all black items with the squiggly logos.
A few of these and a few of those.

I can see the squiggly being the zxti era and then the surfboard being ti. Ive seen 3 diff blk bc, and 2 wht, but just never seen 2 diff ti style bc

I dont think to BCs come up for sale often, I don't remember the last time one of each logo was for sale at the same time. That's probably why it seems so strange. I agree that it seems a bit different.

All of these pieces are only special to those who collect a certain line or logo. To the rest of us they are all the same.

There are many different versions of Basscubes. More than any other component i have seen. To go with the 2 different logos on the TI and black, I personally have 4 different white Cubes. They all have the squiggly logo. 2 are a light grey, one is black and another is grey with a black outline. To add to this, there are different case shapes. I have some with rounded off edges and some with almost square edges. I also have 3 different kinds of screws and screw placements. Some gold pan head screws, some gold tapered that sit flush and one with black tapered screws.
I think it was literally whatever they had at the time was used.

Towards the end of PG's solo existence (i.e. when were trying to sell it), they started scouring the plant (yes they had a real fab plant right next to the river) as well as the abandoned/not paid for repairs and came up with all kinds of things which they finished assembly on or fixed. The resultant items were from several generations of PG products and I think they ended up using whatever silk screens (they did this in house) that were still functional. This explains why there is some much variation and how you end up with an early generation PG device with a more modern series logo. It was quite interesting the combos they came up with. And this is the reason for the last run of MS (2250TA and 10000TA).

Edit: I just realized this was almost 10 years ago when this happened. I made a "pilgrimage" to the second to the last F&F sale at PG in Porkland, got a facilities tour with Erin and that's how I know all this. The plant and warehouse were huge - they even bent and cut their own heatsinks there along the river. The writing was on the wall as PG was in the middle of sending all manufacturing to the Far East and most insiders knew it was only a matter of time before they either sold out or shut their doors for good. Just to give a reminder of the industry status 10 years ago, BestBuy was really starting to bite into the mom and pop car audio shops (with many of them going out of business) and with the commoditization of the industry, some of the car audio companies went through bankruptcies and reorganized, some sold out to the likes of DEI and some shut their doors entirely. It was the end, for the most part, of the whole made in USA car audio phenomenon.

Not to mention a lot of shops were still trying to recuperate from the economic fall after 9-11. I remember it being a tough time working in the industry.

I had assumed about using whatever they had laying around. Its good to hear stories like that. I did NOT know that was how the TA line was born.

Actually the TA line predated 2005 (I believe it was circa 2002ish) so the stuff from the mid 2000's was like TA remix.
