when I think "rack mount" I think of what an image search on google for that definition shows.

https://www.google.com/search?q=rack+mo ... CAcQ_AUoAg

Which is why I asked. I understand we build a "rack" to mount our amps on but traditionally "rack mount" means it slides into a large metal cabinet from the front with the two handles on each side to use or screws to mount from the front.

Rack mount is not really practical for cars. The only one I know of was made by audiobahn, and I remember when it came out I was like "who would have a use for that?"

I remember the alpine pdx amps being stackable. Kind of a gimmick though.

Stackable yes, rack mount (like pro audio gear) is what I thought the OP was looking for.

No PG amps that I've ever seen are rack mount without an adaptor that would need to be fabricated.

that rane/pg cross over I got is a home rack mount that was converted and I think I have a pretty cool idea how to integrate in my build but it is only 2" tall I think. The mounting and cooling requirements are a little different but I could still see some cool stuff done with them.

you want to try to avoid high vibration areas such as a box for example but I have seen many an amp mounted to the box. Nothing wrong with stacking amps as long as there is still some air around them to cool. As someone mentioned above the alpine pdx amps were made to be stacked if your wanting some thing to do that specifically. but not many other brands were made to do it.

The PDXs work to be stacked better because they are class D, so they generate less heat. You can stack class A/B amps but you just need to supply adequate ventilation. Don't enclose them, or if you do, add a few push/pull configured fans.
