Hello,
I managed to pick up a DD5 a while ago for peanuts luckily and its been in the car for a while.
The only problem with it is that the previous owner has painted or power coated the top cover.
So the top cover now looks Gloss black and has a smooth finish, while the bottom casing is the original speckled black.
Can anyone offer any advice on what paint & method to try and get back to the original finish?
I'm going to start sanding it back to get rid of the current Gloss soon.
Thanks
Rich

Re: PG DD5 - Repainting
No need to sand it. Take it to a powder coating place and they will sand blast before powder coating it. Any decent powder place will have color options and they should have a textured black option. You won't have the graphics on there but it sounds like you dont have it now.
Or you can sell it to me for a healthy profit.
It sounds like just the project I've been searching for.

A few of these and a few of those.

you could do powder for the durability but there are also paints that have the same general look. Unfortunatly short of buying some pretty expensive CNC cut badges or finding someone to silksceen the logos will be expensive. Is the black that bad? I think I have a good one that I am going to skin with carbon fiber that I could trade if you want it original. It would not matter to me that its black already.

I'll get a pic of it up later on, its just looking like Gloss black, does not match the base or any of the other bits I've got.
I'm not too fussed about the logos, as Its got none on it now.

well if you want one to be factory fresh I might be able to help you. like I said I am going to wrap one in cf and I would need it gloss black anyway to put on the cf. If you cover shipping both ways and $10 for my trouble you can have my new one.
