So I was reading the MS-2125/MPS-2500 manual linked on here and I noticed a few funny things:
1) it refers to ms275/2240 randomly
2) it has both the Zeropoint logo and the surfboard logo yet the amps have the RCA logo
3) it says not to mount it with heatsink down, so why make them with plexi bottom?

I know that heat sink upside down equals fans.

Ha, I noticed that a few years ago, and asked the same question here. I was always told to never mount upside down.

PG amps were the first amps I had ever seen done upside down with plexy.

its generally accepted that its not a good idea to mount them like that because of airflow problems but that is why they made the shrouds with the fans built in.

I think that manual is the result of basing your company out of your garage.

Those amps were the first real product PG ever made, and professionalism and attention to detail (proofreading) were probably not on the top of the list.

Gotcha. I guess I always thought the m series were their first line of amps.

It makes sense, they focused their time and money toward product development rather than marketing materials.

The mac amps were their first which the ms is based off of. Now many mac's around. I know itchner has one maybe a couple.

I have my ms2250, 2125, & 275 mounted board up. But they are running all 4 ohm stereo plus i have fans in a push and pull. Plus gains are set to lowest. They all get luke warm even in 95 degree day running for 45min straight cranked and still no heat issues.

Where did you learn the MAC amps were the first ones?

I was under the impression the MS250, MPS2220 and MS2125 were the first amps made. I don't know which of those three came first, but I would guess the MS2125.

Did the MQ-430 come with plexi bottom? It's mounted to a box so I can't tell from the pics but I can see that on both sides the extra bottom plate screws are missing. I'd hate to think that there's no bottom plate at all.

Vwdude it looks like it has a bottom just no end screws zoomed in on the pic as far as plexi goes I don't think so. I have been looking for a white 430 nice score! If my life wasn't all fucked up right now I would ask if you want to sell it

Do you have a back plate for the gray ms 275 or is it a 250 don't see a fuse on the front

It would be great to hear about how PG amps came to be. Imagine someone going into his garage saying "I think I'll design an amp today" And then building the first MS amp. And what an amp!

The only thing I notice that was a bit weird (in my opinion) was how the secondary ground is attached to the chassis. Therefore the powder coated cannot be damage AT ALL on the mounting screw holes, if so and you attach to chassis you're bound to get noise. All (well most) designs have the B+ ground tied to the chassis but not the MS series.

I thought they made a sound processor or two before they went into amps and of course this was all after they started making accesories

It's am MS-250. I age the plate but I just got the sink back from powder and I havnt reassembled it yet, I just set the board in the sink for the pic. I got it non-functional and missing the fuse but I got it working. I also upgraded all mini caps to audio grade caps, it sounds great.

The mq-430 pics aren't the best but it is gray actually. I'll get better pics of it once it arrives here and I clean it up a bit. Yes it does have a plate. Looks like the serial is 1666. Lol one speaker terminal is cracked but I'll fix it. It also needs a recap, but it supposedly works. Obviously I wouldn't power it up before new caps.

This is what was in my first ms 275 I got new back in the early 90's.I sold it on ebay a few years ago as I found a manual for it.It had about 20 pages if I remember and just stapled in the top corner.

I owned the prototype ms250 pg wanted to buy it back
But I sold it same with the RSDc proto
that was a cool item

What was the rsdc proto and how was the ms250 a proto

these were both the unit they used before production the rsdc had a huge magnet and metal cone the ms had a lot of things on it that never went into production different ends etc. When pg moved to Florida I contacted them they said yes it was the model pre production and we were going to work out a deal they get them and I get new gear. it never happened so they got sold but this was many years ago heck I can't even remember who got them

Was the heatsink flatter on top than the production units? Like where it angles down on the sides, it is almost flat instead? If so, I know where it is

Was the heatsink flatter on top than the production units? Like where it angles down on the sides, it is almost flat instead? If so, I know where it is
