I have a set of 3 way phd 6.3mf mids
so 6.5,4,1tweeter and xover for each side
now im looking at a 6 channel amp that will
channel 5/6-sub
3/4-bandpass 6.5
and 1/2 for the 4" and tweeter
would there be any problem not using the 6.5 on this xover will it change anything? xover point load ect?
I know when using all 6 speaker is end up being a 4ohm load
lmk
thanks again
Mike

Re: mid and tweeter xover question
Should be ok from the x-over and amps perspective. You will need to figure out how to separately integrate it with the rest of the speakers tho. Do you have a DSP?
Re: mid and tweeter xover question
if your using a passive cross over network like what would come with any set of componants and throw on another woofer it will change the cross over point. If its an active system that is electronic then no it will not matter.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

Re: mid and tweeter xover question
I don't think that's what he is trying to do. He wants to run the mid and tweet only off the 3-way passive using two channels, and run the mid-bass on the other two amp channels, then bridge the last two ch for the sub. Six ch amp, semi-active setup.ttocs wrote:if your using a passive cross over network like what would come with any set of componants and throw on another woofer it will change the cross over point. Can you post a photo of the passive crossover? Many 3-way passive crossovers allow you to bi-amp the midbass, and in your case you could set the crossover for bi-amp, and just not use the low pass section of it. This is assuming the crossover supports this.

Hi Eric
No the xover doesn't let you bi amp or I would do that

Re: mid and tweeter xover question
personally, if the amp allows it.....
i would prefer to let the 6.5 inside the passive 3way set, but i would.....
put channel 1/2 brigded left and channel 3/4 brigded on the right side.....
so more power on the passive 3way set.........
in the case that channels 1/2/3/4 are the same power/output..........

Re: mid and tweeter xover question
I think I will just use a different amp just easier than I will have a ton of power on hand
