Had an idea...

OK, hear me out.
Now, I remember saying before that I do need some kind of rear stage for my car. Bear in mind that I drive a tiny coupe that is rounded upward toward me, so the sub can be horrificly intense.
I am not running my rear stage at the moment because I accidentally gave the rear amp (the ZX200) the same signal as the sub amp. This in turn has knackered the spiders on the 6x9s and they now fart a fuzzy song :(

They werent anything special however, so I was always intending on replacing them..

Now, I dont really want to replace them with more 6x9s I was thinking 6.5" with plates into the same location. They are, however, pretty far back.. You can tell theyre there and they add that definition to the sound as the sub does it's thing (all be it barbarically lmao) but without it it does sound rather 'empty'.

Now, that dude is selling one ID 6" mid, and I had an idea.. I remember once seeing (it was on unique whips) Reme do a single 6" mid with a tweeter that was bridged off a small amp as a 'rear centre stage' this was done in a ferrari.

So, because I dont use my back seat at all I was thinking of bridging the ZX200 and doing the same thing. One mid, one speaker, bridge the amp and use it as a rear stage centre channel. I could literally have it sitting right between the front seats as my back seat is inacessible anyways, and sitting in the back results in smacking your head on the rear window unles s you were born with dwarfism.

Being that close would mean I would be able to address my problem (IE no mid and high from the rear of the car) and do it pretty cheaply.

So what do you dudes think?

Leave out the tweeter and you've got a pretty good idea

OK, turns out that the guy not only has the mid but has the ID tweeter too, so I have just bought that :)

I'll let you know how it goes, will knock up the enclosure thursday :)

Dood, no tweet. It will be very beamy, especially being right in the center.

Front stage is all Clif Designs. I snagged a bargain a while back and got a set of 3.5" coax with the swivel tweets and a set of the 6.5" with the swivel tweets. $65 total cost shipped brand new. And they sound phenomenal up front. I thought that maybe the treble would have been very bright but the MPS2220 @ the 2 ohm load just sings into them, I swear I love that amp more than any other single part of my system now :) It's kinda like it has soul, character even..

Mids here, theyre identical in look just different size, they have the exact same tweet in each one tho :)

I wasnt ever happy with the 6x9s in the back because they are so far back that the bass just swallowed them. That's why I didnt notice that they were recieving subsonic sound and not full range.. I do know theyre not there (I have that amp faded out with the FX-45) but they werent apparent enough, hence the new idea :)

I'm not so sure of that dude tbh. My bass hits so hard that your eyes go blurry. It literally devours everything in the car LOL.

The cool thing is I will (when I nail the RCAS to the ZX200 properly) have full and complete control of that channel. PG amps have a lovely warm innofensive high range anyway, so I dont think a tweeter there would be bad. But I can always disconnect it anyways, I would rather give it a try first and see :)

woohoo !

So today when I got back from the docs someone had thrown out a black leather couch. It was screwed, the arms were ripped.. But the back of it was perfect so I slashed it out with my exact o and now I have 3ft x 7ft of black leather hide to cover this with :)

Yay :)
