AX-204 Crossover emtry DIP Socket

Post by 16_5.0GT »

I just bought an AX-204 crossover off eBay. When I opened it up I noticed that a 16 pin DIP socket was empty directly next to the input gain control knob. Doing some searching around the net, I was able to find a picture of an AX-204A with the cover removed. On this particular unit, it had an LM13600N Dual Operational Transconductance Amplifier soldered to the board. From what I can tell, this is what is performing the input gain. Was this an optional component? It seems odd that it would have a 16 pin DIP socket, if it was integral to the design. Does anyone know the difference between the AX-204 and the AX-204A? I have not found any definitive answer to that question either.

Sorry that I can't help you but, you might want to ask your question and include pictures of both boards on Facebook @ Phoenix Gold Oldschool SQ audio project. There seems to be a lot of active and knowledgeable members there.

I don't know any of any compatible IC for the LM13600N, that said I would only use the LM13600N. Don't know why PG would do that, as it appears those solder joints are from factory.

I thought that IC was responsible for the LPL control. I could be wrong though, it has been a long time since I worked with an AX204.

Guys is the 16pin item for the xover you need to make?
Thought the 204 and 404 need to have the xover made like the old audio control items???

The xover sockets on the PG 204 and 406 are 14pin.
