Xenon 10d2 subs

Post by kg1961 »

I have 2 of these and a brand name ported box nothing fancy
I am lazy this year on install
I read most of the posts on these subs
I hear the fall off sharp at 60hz like a cyclone but there was only Tom and flower say most. Has anyone else use them
I have to say with pg subs these look great over built I'm happy you can invert them and they have a matching.led on the back of a magnet

I only have a x200.2 to power it but I think it will be alot in my vw gti

Lmk
Please

Can I ask what makes these sub different than normal subs? Why to they play like a soundstream spl mule?

My idea is to use pg cocktail and balls battery terminals
Pg larger wafer fuse holder
Old school blue with pg rca end
2 sets of pg r6.5cs
2 xenon 10d2
Xenon onyk 200.2
And xenon onyk 100.2
Lpl

Anything else do you think I could use or need
Anyone have 2 rca and 4 pg 4gauge ring terminals?
Lmk guy

i have a super love/hate with these subs.

to this day i have never been so in love with extended lows in a sub like my xenon 10. it even blows away my current rsdc12. the hate part comes in when it wont blend. some of my favorite songs sound like there is no sub at all.

if you arent running a dedicated midbass, i fear you will run into the same problem i did.

ok but the manual said .5 sealed? I can see a larger box letting the speaker get down and low but im not understanding why you used it so large off the 600-800 watt that amps makes?

Errin (vw337) was still working for PG at the time and recommended it. they said they put .5 in the manual because no shop installer wants to build a box >1cf for a 10.

i did a few setups with xenons before that one. i did 2 10's at about 1cf each, and a 12 at 1.2cf. the 2 10's were overall loudest, didnt play as low as the single 1.2 x10d2. the 12 was the worst overall. it seemed like a one note wonder ported sub without the overall loudness of the duel 10's and minimal difference in very low end. this was when i called up errin and he suggested the 1.2 box on a single 10.

i *think* this is the correct box for it. it sounded great at everything...i just think the sub is not designed to play higher.
my sub LP was set up to 85hz and this was my mid set up: http://www.phoenixphorum.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2714 (try and ignore the fourm drama within)
i had a pretty solid gap i would have to guess between 60hz and 80hz.

i still have the box and x10d2 waiting for the day i can do something crazy like 8's in the doors.

the xenon 600.1 was probably overkill all around but it was just the amp i had at the time.

this makes me think- my pre fab box is about 2 cub ported but im sure I can seal it for the time. I only have a 200.2 for now to power it so maybe this can not over do it with the subs.. I would like to try a small box like the jl 10w6v2 it sounds great in a small box sealed
im sure they will be fine I listen to rap and kids movies in the car so it doesn't get a long drive many times so I hope the pg mids are ok
