anyone know of a source for smoked or clear plexi for elite amplifiers, I know i can just go down the local hardware store, but wondered if there was something specific out there. these boards are just to pretty to have behind dark glass...

I go to home depot or ace hardware myself.

Did you do clear or smoked?

I have found both there depends on what I needed at the time. If your looking to dress up an elite just get a satin/clear vinyl decal cut and put it on the inside of the smoked plexi. When the light hits it it will light up and look like its floating.

Good idea. My wife makes vinyl stickers, I'll have design something custom.

I have a plexi guy that cuts it with a laser cutter and he recreated the old pg logos, and he can etch them into the plexi.

Go to http://www.phoenixgoldregistry.com/parts.html and you'll see a picture there.

Thanks, that looks cool. You seem to be the guy to ask. What do you think the chance is to get a custom case/heat sink from Phoenix gold? I have two elite .5's would love to get one heat sink to put them in. Make my own ZEN 9, or really ZEN 10 i guess.

I just emailed support, we'll see if they respond. It would make for a cool one off configuration.

Update. I did get a response. kudos PG. That said, it wasn't the response I hoped for.... oh well, never hurts to ask.

Yea it sucks that now that I could afford one of their 1-off gear that I can't get it. There are plenty of us doing our own custom stuff here. What are you wanting to have done to it?

They said all elite amplifiers were made, no heat sinks yet to cut. I asked for the name of their heat sink manufacturer, no response.

your not going to get any real help from them. I don't think I remember them doing anything custom from the ZX line on and that was long long ago. It doesn't mean you can't put two together, just not with pg. We have seen people weld two cases together to make a ZX950 and others completely fab their own case up. Hell we have one guy that can sell you pieces of the MS/MQ/mps sinks that he had custom made.... Its pretty neat to see what people can do and most of us here are willing to help you if we can.

If I can get the name of the company that supplies the heat sinks that would be a start. They should still have the die's used.

That will never happen it's in China they do not want others to have it it would be like asking bmw who make the body rim for the car so you can get a one off
Waste of time

actually the Elites come from Korea, and Im pretty sure the heat sinks are not a PG proprietary design. That being said, with enough searching you might be able to find the supplier and customer order one. You will have to figure out though how to move the terminals that would fall in the center of the amp.

MY thought was not to mover them. if i can get a heat sink 3" or 4" longer then needed, then put the power/speaker wire sides of each together, I could hook up as normal sending the wires down through the amp rack. this also leaves all the controls easily accessible. I did get a response from PG that they are looking into the possibility. another question, has any one attempted changing out the 3 blue LED's with another color?

That is so cool. you totally changed the look of them. did you sand them? or was it a chemical process?

Thanks. I used sand paper. One could use lye but I wanted to have the brushed look.

I feel that normally they look like giant iPhones. Now at least it looks like an amp, even a high end amp.

Probably my next daily driver. I'm currently running a pair of ZPA0.3s and a ti2 2000.1.
