Possible Elite 5 issue?

Hi All,

I recently got an Elite 5 installed powering Focal flax 6.5" components up front and Focal flax coaxial in the rear with 2 10" Tid3 subs. The day I picked up my car I noticed static coming through the right front tweeter.

Took it back to the shop and they installed some resistors in front of the Audio Control LC6i which seemed to have fixed the issue. I ended up hearing the static again once more and it started when the head unit was off but the amp was powered on.

Well last night I think the right 6.5" speaker blew as it sounds staticy as well. Called the shop and they are going to swap out the amp with a JL 900w (downgrade for sure) to troubleshoot the issue further. I do not think it's a coincidence that all the issues have been with the right front channel. We even swapped the L/R tweeters and replaced the crossover.

Just posting here to see if anyone familiar with the history of Elite 5 issues has any insight. Really hoping it's not the amp as it sounds spectacular.

Thanks in advance.

The audio shop suspects it's the elite :(.

He tapped the RCA inputs which caused static and when turning the crossovers it caused static as well. Going to see about getting it fixed.

I was waiting for someone that either remembered for sure but I thought we had someone that had some similar issues with another elite. Its not a common enough problem that it happens regularly, even good products have bad runs.

As long as I can get it fixed I'll be happy. The JL amp doesn't even sound a quarter as good as the Elite.

I thought in the other case that pg took care of it with a repair or replacement.

Since the amp is out of warranty is there any way AAMP would repair it? I’m thinking not.

installing resistors is a strange way to solve this problem.
Take a good look inside and outside the amp and search after loos parts / cables / contacts with a good light and magnifying glass.
If everything looks ok than give it to a repair guy with a good reputation.

It's out for repair now.

There was an issue with the Subaru Starlink service. It couldn't communicate with it. The resistors got that problem fixed.

that seems logic. Let us know what the problem was with the Elite amp.

I am not sure how or why your subaru would need to "communicate" with the amp nor how resistors would fix it. Are we talking on the inputs or outputs?

Should have clarified, it's in front of the AudioControl LC6i. Solves the problem described here:

Apparently the RCA board just needed to be re-seated.
