Hi folks,
I'm new here. How is the Tantrum 600.4? I tried using the search feature but little came up. I was given a used one that's still in good conditions, without the wiring cap/cover at the ends. You guys know where I can them up (the plastic housing that covers the terminals and connections)?
But any comments on this amp or is it crap? Thanks.

no, thats actually a pretty great amp.
tantrum was in the middle of the PG line up. it puts out 75x4 or 300x2
has 24db per octave crossovers. its pretty beefy all around.
those end caps might be a little tough to come by now that the amp line is about 8 years old, but i have seem them go on eBay from time to time

I have Tantrum end caps new in the plastic package, is that what your asking for ??
Also the Tantrum 600.4 is a very nice Mosfet amp. I know several people running then right now without complaint. Even so i can repair them if they fail as I can most all PG amps, so can Doc. If you in a broken situation. Are you looking to buy one as i distinctly remember someone that has one...LMK

i have no idea what it's called. i just know that they cover each end of the amp as a housing over the wire connections. i just saw it in the manual and was wondering where i can get it.
are you a dealer of some sort? how much would you sell those end caps to me, shipped to 92704? does $10 sound fair? they look pretty cheap but i don't want to expose any wires thats all.

No I just have a few sets left over unused in the plastic pak from PG you can find them on e-bay for like 18 to 20 bucks + shipping so either way, makes no matter as I have several tantrums laying around that could use them.
They are not rare, so I am not trying to sting you for them either thats why i guide you to e-bay as i see them there all the time. And no I am not a dealer i just pick up there slack in the service department, I repair amps for a living full time, and I run and love my PG products. I work on all brands but PG is my pick for my car. I after all have seen them all inside and out. I'll stick with what I know works PG every time...
LMK if you can't find them on E-bay, and i will see what I can do for you. C
Oh FYI they weight about 3 or 4 pounds or so to ship and the are cast aluminum and are matte finished like the amps so they match perfectly. Metal makes them as durable as the amp housing Just a FYI

I guess... kinda weird how you advertise that you have them new but aren't selling them. I just find that PG isn't what it used to be 10 years ago. Same with RF. I've never touched the Tantrums before though, which was why I asked.

Oh ok because I didn't find any on ebay. So how much would you sell them for shipped to 92704?

let me check REAL shipping costs tomorrow at my shop and I will let you know the price then. I don't charge extra like e-bay for things, just want to break even myself on these. I have 6 sets, and 3 are NIP. I have a lot of things laying around including RF black and grind endcaps also.
And the Tantrums are built better than the older RF amps of similar ratings. Thats why PG built them to compete against Rf back then.
Oh and Fuzzy I got your M-100 today, it will be on the bench in the morning...

I won't mind buying the non-brand new ones if they'll be cheaper. Thanks for getting back to me.

The one I sold was used but MINT inside and it really did not do well for its condition <seems to have a very small market> it went for a bout $150.00 when i saw others in worse condition go for $225 and up to $300 so its all about timing i guess. I was shocked it went so low, But the owner wanted it gone so it went
Your new one should fetch over $300.00 if you market it correctly and the timing is right... C

I would use a reserve to save the sale price and blow off the low boys. it costs but it prevents the item from being given away to..

shipped to your zip 92704 is like $6.00 UPS ground service, so lets say $10.50 for a used set and $6.00 shipping LMK and i dig a set out for you.
Or $25.00 shipped for a new set complete, again LMK what you want to do C
oh I take PP also if you like

I hate to bring up this thread again, but I have two questions regarding the tantrum 600.4.
1. Does anyone know the maximum watt output per channel (not rms)?
2. I am told that PG underrates their rms numbers. If so, approximately what RMS per channel is the tantrum 600.4 if not 75 watt?
Thanks!

thats PG's max rating on the amp, if your looking for more them i would check the birth sheet for the amp it has it max power at rated distortion for that amp. If they issued them with them. I believe they did as My 1200.1 has one. Did it come with its original box they stamped the max rating on that box if you have it...C

juging from the certificate that came with my XS 4600 (very similer inside) i would guess about 85 X 4 or close to 350x2

It was given to me 2nd handed. I don't have the birthsheet except the info/instruction page for the amp. Exactly like this one:
ftp://anonymous:anonymous@207.109.65.13 ... manual.pdf
But I think the phoenixgold ftp site has been down for the past few days.
