Titanium 800.1 Cuts out in Hot Weather

Post by jrwilshire2003 »

Hi all,

My 800.1 saga continues, Once the car gets hot inside and i turn the amp on it goes into thermal shutdown until it cools down a bit. Is there certain temperatures it is supposed to do it as it's getting annoying now and is there a solution to adjust the parameters at all? It works fine otherwise just when the car has been parked in the sun for a while allowing the cabin to heat up. Many thanks again for your help!

Iirc the polyswitch thermal sensors are designed to switch at 110° C. Obviously the interior of your car and amp should never be getting hot enough to boil water, sun or no sun. I expect that you still have something going on.

In regards to your previous post, there are no transistors involved with triggering thermal protection except to drive the yellow led. It just drives the led, it doesn't actually impact the rest of the circuit. It could be the lm2903 is flaking out. I've seen them start behaving erratically.

Good luck,
Jason
