Hi guys
I'm new to this forum and got a Q for you
I got a set of Xenon 6,5" and i'm wondering if they'll do good in a kickpanel or if i will get a big improvement by buying a set of Rsd 6,5" to put in there - i'm going to make a custom kickpanel so any suggestions will be appreciated (size, on/off axis, tweeter placement etc.)
Thanks guys
Bernhardt from Denmark
Oh and it's in an old 1991 vw passat and they'll be powered by a bridged M-44 or a M-50

The Xenon's are good but have poor midbass response. The RSd's are very impressive compared to the Xenon components.
The RSd's take a bit to break in (maybe a week of listening) and the only thing I can really say that is questionable about them is in the 300hz range they tend to be a bit colored other than that a great set even if the price were doubled. The Xenon's have little or no output below 70-80hz without breaking up at slightly higher than average listening levels.

the rsd's are easir to install also, the xenon mids have huge magnet/assembly area's

Thanks for the answers - think i'll pick up a set of Rsd's and use the Xenons for rearfill (will make it a lot easier to install XO

) - any xp on tweeter placement, on/off axis on the Rsd's ?

You won't be disappointed. I have the RSD6cs and they are great. Good midbass. Pretty much the best commonly available set in it's price range... hell even in much higher price ranges.
I've heard the mid and the tweet are designed to be mounted near each other. I can't verify that with facts but I think VW337 said that a couple times and he would know.

So close together is the way ahead - is the stock location pointing towards your legs ? (off-angle)

They have a good off-axis response, but try and keep it below the 15-20 degree off axis range, any more than that and you'll get some serious anomalies.

Got the Rsd's yesterday and like 'em already - so gonna have a go installing 'em in the kicks with the 15-20 degrees off-axis (when i can find the time, kids really consumes your time and energy

)

Picked them up at a local car acc shop for 146 US$ - will let you know how i think of them when i get the time to make the kicks and i'll post the depth later - gotta go to a 40 year birthday (and the following hangover)

the cup here is flush mount install kit and yeah it can be removed.
It also comes with a surface mount kit in the box.
try the "installs" section in the phorum, there'll definitely be some pics of it.

you can actually disassemble that tweeter down to just its raw driver, so you will have all kinds of mounting flexibility
