I ran across a SDT display only (Dakota Digital Type) cheap at a pawn shop so I bought it............my question is this:

Is the r-link box a neccessity to make use of this display????? or just run the cable from amp to display. :?

Is it the Titanium line of amps? According to the manual you can use either the display or the SDT kit directly to the amp.

Really? I always thought you needed the stupid R-LINK box.

Now I need to find an RDDP display! The RMD doesn't fit in the Ti500.4 for some stupid reason

Yes, I know I can hack the RMD up and connect it to my power wires, but I would rather do it nicely. Or, does anyone have the RDDP pin-outs? If it has any power outputs, maybe I can make some sort of RMD->RDDP adaptor cable.

I hope I'm reading that right. On the Ti line it states either the remote display OR the SDT kit, but on the ZX it states remote only (pg. 4).

The only Ti amps that have BOTH RMD and RDDP output are the monoblocks (the Ti800.1 & Ti1200.1). All of the other Ti amps only have the RDDP port.

You can use an RDDP kit without the SDT though in case you can't find one or aren't willing to pay the hefty price. The complete kit comes with a pair of tri-color led's, one for voltage ranges, and one for the status feature.

I wish I could answer your question about eliminating the r-link, but I've never attempted to do that and all my equipment is in storage.

My 900.7 had an RMD port as well.

Unfortunately when Dakota Digital was selling off their stock of RDDP displays, my RMD was working perfectly fine, so I never bothered to get one. Damn, they costed something like $25 for a Ti finish one.

Anyone got a display they want to get rid of?

That's right Tom. The 7 channel and monoblocks came to market after the rest of the line and included the RMD feature.

There is a pinout pdf...

I'm wondering if the vacuum fluorescent display on the SDT required more power than is provided on the amp's RDDP output or something? The r-link box does require a B+, B-, and Remote input. Probably just me trying to rationalize the r-link box though!

You can get the pair of tri-led's without the r-link. They're part number ZDT3 and I don't see why you couldn't run those directly to the amp RDDP port.

onecrazy95civic may be able to answer some of these questions, he's got a ton of SDT's and the RDDP kits.

Hey... there's a DC voltage output. I can chop up an ethernet and phone cable, and then I should be able to use the RMD! Woot!

Why wont your RMD fit in the ti amp? Mine works fine in the 1000.2, which I am guessing uses the same parts as the 500.4. If I can finagle the line over, I'll try it in the 450. I used to have an RDDP on some 500's that I built, and it worked fine.

My Ti 1000.2 has both RMD and RDDP ports.

All of the big Ti amps (800.1 and up) have the RMD port. The 600.2, 500.4, 400.2, and the smaller derivatives of the ZX amps only seem to have the RDDP port.
