Connundrum.

I dont have a dremel, and Im pretty sure that the amp isnt happy having plastic ends. I cant quite put my finger on it, maybe it's a ground thing? I dont know.

Anyway, a dremel runs $40 and up. I am currently out of work and just dont have the cash to sink into a tool right now, especially one I will use like once and then wont need it again.

hell yeah, when I was away for the summer working, me and my roomates "rented" a TV from wal-mart for 89 days! normally this sort of thing would seem tacky, but it's okay to do it to those bastards!

Those a MS-250 end plates, the power terminals are different and the speaker terminal might also be different. But they have the same overall fit, but they are labeled wrong and GREY .
I picked them up as spares from Hate-U in Oregon, perhaps he has more as these are used. I will e-mail him for you...C

OK. Here is a comparisson shot from ampguts.

Also, on ampguts when you go to look @ the mps it says

"Same as MS250 but optimized for low impedance"

Cecil. I have looked high and low, up and down, and everywhere in between. The amp isnt and never will be put up for sale so I I couldnt give a rat's ass what it's labelled as. I love that amp.

If you can spare those ends it would make my day, hell year. I really cant stand looking at this amp. The boards, innards and outer shell are immaculate, but these plastic ends look like butt.

Of course I will pay for them, I dont expect them for free..

Two things I am missing that the amps have.

#1 is the correct speaker terminal lump, or any I can 'mod to fit'. Right now I am using some spring loaded crap I got from radiocack.

#2 is the fuse holder. I know it's not overly important but I would like it in there, even if Im not using it :)

Any help is much appreciated. This is an old amp. 18 years old ! It needs restoring to at least 60% it's original beauty.. The job on the inside was done by you, and flawlessly I may add. But I just cant bear to continue using it as it is. Even though I cant see it in the install location I just cant bear to think of it as ugly and unhappy lol.

I sent you an email. If you dont get them there anymore pm me here, and we can talk. But I am desperate, I simply must have those end caps :)

Hmm.. Well if Cecil and I can work out a deal I should be ok..

The amp has sustained a few small scratches since I got it, so I want to repaint it anyway. Grey/White doesnt matter.

I actually have grey paint and clear here with me, and I couldnt give a toss if it's labelled MPS or MS. It'll still be my 'cheater' amp, and even more so because it's been 'tampered with' and will 1/4 ohm.

lmao.

Hmm.. Guilty../raises hand..

When I got here to OH my friend had a UK pub 'fruit machine' that was able to be emulated. but we needed super hi res photos and we had no camera capable.. So I went and got a 10mp camera from walmart for $300. Took the pics, dumped them and then took it back

I don't feel bad tho, I mean I have done all my food shopping/electronics/video game shopping there since I got here 6 years back.

RolandK your a king among men. I need you direct phone number so I can stock my shop     Please PM me, if we can talk :) :)

Ydnap, you now have two sources for these plus I e-mailed my seller trying to find a third set for you. Please be patient. My end plates are not going anywhere till we get you squared away. If Phil has a set I am sure they are in better shape than mine, mine are used. At least try to call him and see how much, Plus you will need connectors like speaker terminal, and power terminals. Give Phil a call, Rolandk has done all the ground work for you. :)

Well hopefully the amp will be on top, instead of the ZX... lol sorry, crap joke.

OK, well Phil said they do have grey MS ends, I also rq'ed prices for the power block (the amp rem steps the other way on the MS) and the speaker block, and also the fuse holder..

Hopefully this little lot wont cost me more than about $35 shipped. That I can handle becaus I see it as worthy of going hungry for a couple of days

I just cant justify spending money on a dremel. And I know I wouldnt be able to take it back because I do need one.. Plastic ends look so trampy though, I must get this done right..

I have a can of grey primer and a can of clear. So I'll clean the amp with some thinners, sand it lightly (its in pretty good shape would only need to make the paint bond, P800 would do it) and then paint it grey.

I am at the point now where I have to use this amp. Simply put, my stage is going to be between .75 and 1ohm stereo, and I dont have or know of an amp that'll do the same.

Oh and did I mention the sound this thing puts out? the sweet, crisp, warm and wonderfully clarified sound?

/daydreams. God I miss my system. I have done like 30 miles in my car in the last two weeks because it's so lame.

Dudes, seriously, you should hear that amp play star wars EP II, when the ships pass around and the sound pans it's just fucking amazing in there.

I have really good (well to me, some would argue they're budget but they sound phenomenal) 'stage' speakers throughout the car now (all clif up front and the Eclipse PR in the back) so with a new sub that should punch ever so tightly and accurately and two of the best amps ever made I should be back in heaven pretty soon..

Guys, sometimes I may not seem very grateful but believe me I am. Us humans can seem very selfish sometimes, but it's what goes on in the inside that matters most. Cecil knows from the way I speak of him that a friend with PG is a friend for life, and I dont ever forget that.

Now, all I need to do is make a nice bottom (ooer) for the amp out of this plex I have, sand the inside and paint it grey and I should have a completely sexy and clean amp soon !

:)

BTW just wanted to point out again (as Cecil knows) that when I got the amp I was straight on the phone to Phil before the bugger had even arrived, and they didnt have any ends in stock at all.. It also sounded extremely doubtful they were ever going to get anymore in because of the direction PG was headed in..

But thanks alot Mr Roland, always nice to have a heads up :)

Don't sand the insides of the amp. its been anodized to prevent corrosion. In fact don't mess with the inside of the amp. Thats what masking tape is for.

Plus the original powder coat will hold paint. its the aluminum that does not want to hold paint. Try scotch-brite to scuff the surface with. Use the fine grain stuff, the green and purple will scuff stainless steel very easily. I used to use it to scrub off nickel iron out of Vacuum chambers years ago.

If the Anodizing inside needs cleaning a solvent and paper towel will usually work. Be gentle, they don't make these anymore :)

Im not removing the board dude. It was horridly worrying last time.. I'll simply mask off all the internals very well and then paint the outer shell :)
