Freakin Low Lives...

Post by Phoenixcolt »

Much to my dismay, I was awoken this morning to my grandmother telling me someone broke my window on my Golf. Went out to look at it and there it was. Some loser broke into my rear drivers side window folded down my back seats and stole my sub, amp, passive crossovers, and about 300 of my favorite cds : ( .

I am a fool for not putting an alarm in in addition to the stock alarm system that doesn't go off unless the door is opened but I had no idea someone could do it this easily. These people knew exactly what to do and I never thought twice about the safety of the stock alarm.

My alarm on my Colt went off at one point and i figured it was a loud car or a twig because it has happened before but really wish I wasn't foolish enough to assume that this morning...maybe I coulda caught someone...or maybe it took them all of 5 minutes to get this done and they just tested to see if they could get in the colt in addition and come back later(even though its stripped) or did it as a distraction while they popped my vw window open. I will never let an alarm go off without checking on it again.

They must have been waiting for me because there was only a 45 minute window between the time I pulled in and the time the person who lives on the third floor left for work. 545 to 630 am...what a huge disappointment, just got that sub in recently too. The sun was coming up for gods sake and some f---er had the balls to do it anyway.

So long to my RSd 500.4 and 12d2...hope life gets better eventually.

Man, I was so fortunate for so long too, the colt never got hit in the 2 or 3 years I had an expensive system in it and the vw I have had for less than a year gets hit : (...I was delaying installation of a nice compustar 2 way that I have in my room for the vw cuz I figured there was no rush since I had the stock vw security system in place and didnt want to spend the cash just yet....I feel like a fool. I should have just spent the money and gotten the alarm installed before I added anything to it.

And I agree....they should be hurt in the worst ways imaginable...we all work hard for our money and our goods and we love them and enjoy them to the utmost and some druggy punk or something just takes it as if they are entitled to it.

Things like this make me happy to drive an unnoticeable car. Everyone I know with a VW has been broken into...

Is your insurance going to cover everything?

Man.....Colt I totally understand your pain....having had my car broken into a time or two....suxors. But this last time my car got broken into...maybe 2 years ago....I had ALLLLL my gear in Boxes, as I was planning to do the install soon. I had my current install CV Stroker 15, PG 900.1 amp all installed. And had my new gear to replace in boxes ready to get em installed, TI 1200.1, 900.7, TI951, TIDEQ, TI15 farad cap, And a few other things in boxes. I was Extremely lucky, I had a dead broken laptop. Sitting there as well. The idiots stole the laptop, left ALL my gear! WHEW.....I was happy. Sux, but happy....it would have been a sad day if they took it all. I did have an alarm, but parked my car out back behind the store I work for. Didnt hear the alarm. Came out and my window was broke....

Needless to say, I dont park my car in areas where I cant get to it quickly, and most of my stuff I cover with a cover when I am not able to be near it or back to it soon.

Sorry to hear that man. Sometimes I have to put my clifford into valet mode, and even though my car is on a drive way off the street I still dont sleep very well lol.

I spoke to a mate of mine on the phone yesterday from the UK and he was saying how someone broke into his car and stole a set of walmart 6x9s out of his car. So he got another set, bolted them into the back shelf (metal on a sedan like) and someone tried to steal them, couldnt, and slashed them to ruin them.

WTF is it with these assholes where they feel inconvinienced enough to lash out in spite when they cant steal shit? Almost like theyre fucking mad at you for trying to keep what you paid for.

And yeah, Bfowler has sound advice there, no doubt this was done for crack or a bag of weed, so they'll be looking to shift them ASAP.

I'm so sorry to read about your anstall beeing stolen man.
I feel for you!
At my work, we restore mercedes-SL [cabrios]; in every restored vehicle I ALWAYS place a radar-unit along with the class-3 alarm.
This means [for those of you who are not familiar with these], that the normal class-3 car-alarm will go off, when a door, boot, or hood is opened, also when the car is tilted[ jack-up secured], BUT ALSO when a hand, or arm is put inside the car.
Throw away the ultrasonic- units [those small ones in the upper corners of your frontshield]; they go off when the sun shines, or a vibration is felt
These radar-units however, are ESSENTIAL!
You can leave your windows open, your sunroof open, or your softtop down, and still it will NOT go off, unless you put your arm or something in there.
The small unit can be mounted behind wood, plastic, carpet; as long as it is not metal.
In fact; you can hide the unit very easily in your armrest between the front seats, or under the carpet that is normally there.
The ball-shaped field can be adjusted in size, so to just-fit-in the vehicle, making unwanted[ false] alarms IMPOSSIBLE.
When you really want a system that only sounds when there is something going on; install a radar-unit.
Hope you can use this in the future; IMO the only way to protect your install.
I also do sat-nav- tracking systems, but they are a bit more expensive
Good luck, and hope you'll find some nice new gear here for your car.
I might have a brand-new radar-unit in my closet; if I find it, I'll send it to you for free, for your VW.
Expect a PM soon.

Thanks man, if you don't, I will definitely look into this since I actually wasn't familiar with it. I think that would be an awesome thing to add to the alarm. Are they expensive to purchase new?

Is your insurance going to cover everything?
Nah, Insurance only covers things that are permanently installed. The window will be fixed deductible free but not the equip. Even so, I would still have to pay a deductible if I had a claim for my equipment and the RSd 12d, box, and amp were probably only worth a little more than the 500 dollar deductible I would have to pay anyway and cds would mean nothing to them since they were in a transportable case with a handle and everything asking to be walked off with...I mean list prices would say differently on the audio equip but I would only be able to produce receipts for the prices I paid which wasn't quite list.

I love that damn vw so much but I have had much misfortune with it so far between all the repairs and now this.

Had no time to look for it yet; they cost about 100-115 euros here [the good ones I use].
Will get back to you.

That totally sucks big time. Last time my vehicle was broken into was right in my driveway and i'm almost sure it was one of my friends that did it. That's a friend for you eh?

That's one reason that i'm not blasing my stereo a lot anymore and i'm trying to make it as concealed as possible so nobody will be any of the wiser.

There are just so many people that want everything handed to them on a silver platter. Nobody wants to work for anything these days and they think you should just give them what they want and if not they will take it anyway.

I could go on and on ranting about people of this nature, but I think I should hush though :)

Sorry for your loss.

Yeah, post up the CD's, I'll see what I got. I can burn them on a CD burner deck which is almost completely lossless to the original version (not MP3).

Yeah I am gonna be checking some pawn shops. The cop even said I should check them cuz it didn't look like your average cheapy gear that people buy at walmart.

I have a lot of the music on my hard drive also but I will see if theres some harder to find ones that I can't download as easily and let you guys now. Thanks : ). Nice to see some good people after one of the worst ones hit me up for my shiz.

Anyone have any RSd passive xovers they ditched to go active? I would like to replace those at some point even though I don't even want to think about buying another amp for a while...

I have an elite xover and a zr xover for my other 5" comps that are hanging out in my room not in use but I don't know if it'd be wise to use either of those with the RSd comps...not that I really want to anyway.

Thank you so much for the offer of the albums but I will hold off on those for now but believe me I do absolutely appreciate it, it makes me feel great to know you would hook me up like that. I have about 50 gigs of alt and rock on my external hard drive and I should be able to throw some excellent mp3 discs together...won't replace my store bought cds but it will be the same music at least :-/ .
