Not PG I'm afraid, but I got a "small" package in the mail from England yesterday, something I've always wanted ever since I saw one in the flesh at the european finals in 1999, a Sony XM2000R :D

Image

These are the amps for the 3-ways up front, the Coppers look tiny now, haha. Also, should have gotten a bigger car :p

Image

Very big thanks to Nath (is he a member here?) for selling me this big and beautiful amp!

I think I have the only Rockford navigation system ever made...

Maybe Shawn wants to add it to his collection? (Nice RF collection by the way)

Wow, that is by far the most basic navigation system I've even seen :D

And when detroit is 6252 miles north-east, where the hell are you? Somewhere off the coast of Morocco? ;)

My guess is 6252 miles from where it was manufactured.

It does let you pick spots on a map and will give you directions to those spots. Yes it is basic, but a bit more complex than it seems.

I have two map cards for it. The Great Lakes area, and Detroit.

At the time Delco was making RF head units (like your 8140), Delco also made Telepath units for OEM navigation installations on a few cars. I am sure Delco just silkscreened a few Rockford logos on them and sent them to Rockford as samples.

This unit was in the front entry display at the factory I worked at (Rockford Acoustic Designs). There was an 8140 installed with it in the display and they looked great together.

I don't know how interested you are in in Rockford speakers, but I think I still have some prototypes sitting around here somewhere. I know I have prototype FNQ components (the first generation which were easily the best made). I also have a nice RFD2215 (it has been so long, I think that is the part number) which was signed by the whole engineering team across the cone. At one point in my life I think I was the world's biggest RF fanboy, but that is all behind me now.

I am pretty sure there was a good reason for that. They had a great product that would kick some serious dick with power ratings that were realistic, we know how they used to do it.

I am still a big fan of the old RF, pre DSM if I may.

I remember Delco was producing the decks. I found it amusing that they made the most hidious factory/oem radios for GM, but I fell in love with the RF units  I love the simplistic design, and of coarse that irresistable RF green illumination that mates so well with an R-dat, PSD, and CA-1 VU meter (remember those???)

The FNQ's were pretty nice. Even being a pretty big RF fan, I have to say that I've never been overly impressed with any of their speaks. I think the first gen Audiophile tweets (ND-4) were the best sounding they've ever made.. just my opinion.

The RFD2215 is the stamped frame, dual voice coil, paper cone, rubber surround driver that's a step below the Power series if I'm not mistaken. I believe these were the very first dual VC drivers RF had produced.. yes?? Circa 97' ish I had a pair of twelves of this model once apon a time

I became an RF fan by default. It's what I grew up with (besides what Ames and radioshack had to offer :idiot:   ) I grew up in central Maine and there were only two install shops within reach. Even though these were still nearly an hours drive away. The guys at the Orion dealer were less than impressive, and I had picked up my first Punch amp second hand already and that's where the journey began :D
