I'm looking for a second one too. I want to some what use this one, the features it has could be beneficial. IDK, for the price of another one I could find a DDC for my Audio Control DQS, and that would be beneficial in its own right.

Nonsense, we like to see it all. PG is sweet, but we're open to all of it.

Nice Black 950 BTW.

is the black one the super rare one? I think that was the way it went, they made less of those then they did the reactor

Thanks SM ! Please correct me if i am wrong but that was my understanding , that the 950 was limited # and not that many were sold . And the reactor was based off of that amp , they just put it in a new schroud and case , slapped a name on it and well ...

Nice "small" collection, Ludeboost98! I like the items in the Ti collection. Although, personally, I'm partial to the M-series amps and their matching white-powdered-coated and blue-and-gold-silk-screened processors. I posted my small collection on page 27 of this thread. It's near the bottom of the page.

IMHO, with a few exceptions, very little of what is available today is nearly as pretty or desirable as the old, older, and oldest lines of Phoenix Gold gear. Maybe I'm just sentimental and way too nostalgic!

Wow I did't know that !! Yea as far as myself I am partial to the older amps too . There was a PG dealer near my house when I started in car audio and the first amps I saw were the ms and mps lines . I would like to get my hands on some more and maybe find some scrouds for the ones I have . They both need to be tuned up as far as the caps are concearned . I contacted some guys here who are willing to help me out . Hopefully anyone who is selling any PG on this forum will "keep them in the family ".

They only made them in 1999, I've never seen them advertised or any copies of sales brochures/literature. I've seen one tested in a Uk car audio magazine, it retailed for £2400 then, about $3600US. I read somewhere that they only made about 150 or so of them, mine is serial number 102. But I don't know for sure that those figures are correct.

I was at the european IASCA finals in sweden in 1999, Sony had a democar with 4 of these mounted staggered in the back, and 20 10" subs, all in a small VW caddy delivery van, not much bigger than my VW Lupo in the pic over here. I knew then and there that once in my life, I had to have such an amp.. As the years went by I almost forgot about it until I found one last year.

I think its such a statement from when car audio had its finest days, you know Sony will never go balls out and make something like that ever again. Nor would most other manufacturers. This one is the one I will keep forever :)

Internally it is basically 4 mono amps, one for each + and - for left and right channel:

Pg 152, 153 of the old school thread on DIYaudio, has a guy that has 4 of them. It's a fairly recent post, with in the last 2-3 weeks. The thread itself is a few years old.

I've heard a couple of guys mention it's really 4 channels that are bridged but I don't see why/how? I know it has 4 power supplies but i think it's still a true 2 channel amp and the reason for having 4 power supplies is to have a negative and a positive toroidal design hence the need for 4 pwm's, I could be wrong and this is a little beyond my electrical knowledge but Sony went all out to make the ultimate amplifier so I wouldn't be surprised at anything!

just a shame they are so big and if was to fit mine in my install it would take up the room of all 3 ms2250's alone

I found another '93 Clarion HU for $20 shipped and.... it came with the '93 brochure which was more the reason of the purchase. The HU was the 5780CD. It's a bit wore out but she works. I'll do my best to clean her up. the damn rechargeable batteries don't hold a charge anymore worth crap so I'll get some pics up later.
