RSD 1200.1 going into "protection mode" Solved

Hi!

I had this problem with my RSD1200.1 sometimes is shutting down about half a second or so then it startet to play again. I set my gains today with a DMM with min\max memory and there i found my problem. I use a SLD44 linedriver and the gains on both my RSD 1200.1 and the RSD500.4 is set to 8 Volt.

With the DMM i found peaks up to 15 Volts from the SLD44 so after i downloaded the 60Hz tone and calibrated the SLD to send out 8 Volt with the volume set to 25\35 on my Alpine deck the shutdown problem on my 1200.1 is gone.
So it was a gain\signal level problem.

Is the high input itself the reason for the ""protection mode" or will a to high input result in a to high ouput and that will be the reason for the "protection mode"?

The FAQ section here on this forum is really helpfull and so are you guys.

Edit: I also used the DMM on the batteri terminals ofthe 1200.1 and it was down to 10.3 Volts as a minimun (My engine off and the batteri voltage was 12.1 Volts) :?

I`m waiting for a bigger alternator i bought on Ebay and 2 new Maxxima Batteries so i guess it will solve the current problem ok but does anyone know how much power i loose from my amps when my system drop almost down to 10 Volts? I remember one guy benchmarked the RSD 1200.1 to 1390 Watts and i guess that was at approx 14 Volts?

Hey Bjorn. With 15 volts you are very likely exceeding the output of something, and sending the line driver or amp (or both) into clipping.
