Both of my speakers pretty much sound like crap... They distort very easy at low volumes, come to find out its because while i had the speakers out of the car, my little newphew stuck his finger through the polevents, and their is some kind of dampining material in the polevent.. That dampning material seems to serve an important role, because when i covered it up completely with my hand while the speakers were playing, that distortion went away.. I talked to phil, and he has not been able to find any of that material for the elites.. Should i jsut get 2 new elite mids? I am extreemly unhappy with how they sound at this point.
I have to cross them over at 125 hertz on my deck in order for them not to make that poping noise, which in term leaves me with 0 midbass..
Well one speaker is clearly blown.. i noticed it rattling since the day i got it, and thought it may be the doors, but it was the woofer.. Now my drivers side speaker makes a bad clinking noise.. I even took the speaker out of the doors, and i put my hand lightly over the polevent, and the noise stopped. I thought it may be the tinsel leads, but i head them, and the clinking noise still went on. It sounds like the coil is hitting the back plate. The thing is , is that i dont have it up loud, and its crossed over at 125 hertz, which is essentially no bass. Right now they are installed in my doors with no deadning, which i plan to take care of that soon, but even when i took the mid out of the door, the clinking noise was still very loud. Any thoughts?

yep buy throw them away and get yourself some SEAS
jk
really no idea...the blown driver sounds fed...the other my guess theirs stuff in the gap causing the VC to rub which = bad
Can one send others to war if hes not willing to go himself?
I am so upset with them right now, that i am tempted to buy some rsds.. I will be out 90 bucks+ giving pg my current 6.5s to replace both drivers.. I guess thats not to bad..
Well, I thought my mid was blown, but luckily for me it wasn't. The black fiber screen (the foam it's called above) was in the VC gap causing all sorts of havoc. I took a can of compressed air and blew it into the vent holes around the bottom of the motor structure.
After a few hours of playing w/it making sure that that was the cause, problem solved.
"ZPA's will have the same sound essentially as you get from the MS, they just feature a bigger shinier set of balls."

THATS AWSOME...nothing better then bringing a piece of audio equipment back from the dead.
