I've searched with absolutely no luck.
Every winter my zx450 starts _groaning_ until it gets warmed up. After speaking to a tech several years ago, I discovered it's a common problem when the crossover pots are fouled. Since it was warming up at the time, I sort of let the issue rest.
That was several moves and several computers ago and the part number has long since been lost.
The part is marked B10K, which is a pretty generic marking for a 10k audio potentiometer. However, that doesn't give much information regarding power rating, etc.
If anyone knows the part #, I'd sure appreciate the information. Thanks in advance.

It's a basic 10k log (B taper) quad pot. I had a few but recently tossed them. Oops. These are hard to find because of the many variations of shaft types, case size and resistance. You can try searching surplus places, but I have to tell you that you likely won't find them. Won't PG sell you one? They used to do this...m22_jack wrote:I've searched with absolutely no luck.

On the other hand, it seems weird that the only thing that causes this problem is a pot. You can certainly test this by putting the whole amp in a freezer overnight and trying it out. Use a heat gun on LOW to pinpoint the faulty component. Or do the reverse (this is easier) and buy some freeze spray that will chill components one at a time, waiting for them to "thaw" before squirting another. I bet you'll find it's actually an OPAMP IN the crossover circuitry, and not a pot. Those are easier to find.
Call Phil at PG I am sure he has them for a price, but they will be exact parts, and no guessing.
My wonder is how and why they are failing on you ? I have another client local to me that killed his but he played with them everyday, all day, instead of buying a EQ.

Since they are sealed you cannot clean them which is done on the open ones regularly. but here again being sealed I am wondering how and why they are getting dirty and noisy ???
