What would be the effects of using the Elite Xover and tweets w/the RSD mids?
The Elite 6" mids I have, one of which is toast- how I????, are no longer than 2 months old. I have a set of the RSD 6 1/2" mids unused.
So, would there be any adverse side effects replaceing the Elite mids w/the RSD mids?
I'm going out to the truck in about 1 hour to do so.
Can I switch the speakers?

i dont think it would hurt anything...just might not sound right.
although i have always wanted to test this,
get a multimeter and test the impedance of the good ti driver vs the RSD driver.
if they are very close it should work out well...theoreticly!

would be interested in hearing if it works out...
O JESUS, please don't ruin those wonderful speakers with a passive xover designed for two other speakers. GO ACTIVE, get an alpine cda-9887, priemer prs 880, or even a clarion drz (which I will have one for sale in two months)
The ti elite is a terrible passive xover to use with other speakers that were not designed for it. If Im correct I believe it has notch filters in it, and I know for a fact it has phase corrections built into it. DO NOT USE IT WITH OTHER SPEAKERS. If your using it with speakers with the same ohm rating it will work for a lower budget sound.
Can one send others to war if hes not willing to go himself?
LMK how that works out for you. I have a couple sets of these crossovers and there are some differences inside these when compared to others I have seen.
This difference might be needed just for the Morel speakers. If so it might cause your other drivers to sound uncommonly bright. As I said LMK please.. C

I would rather use the RSD XO with Elite speakers than the Elite XO with RSD speakers. The Elite XO is designed to phase and blend in the exact pair of speakers it is designed for... while I believe the RSD crossover uses a much more standard design without the notch filters, etc.
I definitely wouldn't use them on Seas speakers. It might work and sound alright, but the frequency response and phasing would likely prove otherwise.

Hi Guys I looked at my Elite X-overs today and and they use 100 pico-farad caps across the regular Mylar caps used in regular crossovers.
The High pass to the tweet is custom and special but, I think the low pass to the 6 is pretty standard except for those bypass caps.
The bypass caps across the regular mylar caps will give extended high frequency response to the crossover. most probably to give the drivers a bit brighter sound quality that the morels might need. Most assuredly for higher accuracy in their SQ. You won't find this on the RSD's X-over I am sure.
I would still like to hear how it turns out on your tests though...C
