Phoenix Gold Amp Troubles

Hello,
I am new to this forum and I need some help. I just bought a Phoenix Gold x1200.1, the xenon amp. When I hooked it up the blue led didn't come on or anything. I heard a sound from the amp when you turn on your deck like for music or the radio. I think thats just the remote wire turning on the amp. But nothing happens after that. No sound out of my sub or anything. I used all of the wires that I just took off my other amp and hooked it up to this one and it doesn't work. My old amp worked fine with the same connections, I also hooked it up after trying with the x1200.1 and it still worked. Is the amp just blown and I have to bring it back? Hopefully you guys can help me out and tell me whats wrong. thank you.

Hmmm...welcome to the forum. I am not a techy by any means, there's a few guys on here who will help you in a moment. But welcome to the forums!
Where did you purchase the amp? Used/New? what kind of sound did you hear from the amp? was the noise/sound comming from the amp? or did it make the speakers pop? or......

Its dead....sounds like main failure of the xenons.
Send it to PG to fix only like $125 plus shipping back to you.

Welcome to the Phorum.
Sorry about your luck with the xenon. Just out of curiosity did you get it off of ebay, or from someone local to you?

Bring it back to where you got it. They sold you a busted amp.
(To be extra certain... are you 190000% sure that you are using the correct power, ground and remote terminals?)

yeah, I bought it from a different city then mine because my town doesn't have any really good car audio in it, only like two car audio shops and they don't carry much. But the place I got this amp is trying to get rid of all of their car audio stuff and it is all Phoenix Gold. I am sure my wiring is good because right now I have my other amp running my sub right now. Is the blue led suppose to come on. The shop I went to has a 7 day return policy thing, so should I bring it back. They also told me that it has a 1 year warranty from Phoenix Gold starting when I bought it. I just bought it last week. The shop I got it from said that they don't know if it has been used before. They think it is brand new, so I asked them why there was scratches on it. Then they said I don't know. But then when I got back to my city and looked at the amp more I noticed that where you screw it down, there was some wood on one side where the holes are to screw it down. So I am starting to think it was a demo or used by someone and they didn't fix it. So what should I do just bring it back or wait along time to send it to Phoenix Gold. I bought the last one also. My sub didn't make any noise at all either. Just the turn on switch did. I was thinking of bringing this one back and asking for my money back to get 2 x400.1's or just straight trade them for this x1200.1 for 2 x600.1's but I doubt they will do that. I don't think they have 2 600.1's but I think they have a couple of 400.1's. They have quite old phoenix too. like a phoenix gold 12" tantrum subwoofer. but thats about it. so what should i do. thanks[/list]

I would take it back to where you purchased it from. Worst case scenario if you have to send it to PG, you should have it back in 2 weeks, maybe a little longer to Canada but not too much longer.

TAKE IT BACK! dont wait too long if you have lesss than 7 days now to do so.
It may not have a 1 year warranty on it any longer if it has been purchased before etc. Sooo...TAKE IT BACK! QUICK LIKE A BUNNY!
How much did you pay for yours?
I have an X1200.1 too..works great!

Also, is this a good amp if it works. Like will it last me forever if it gets fixed. I have a different older Phoenix Gold amp and its pretty solid. That one is the m44 which is pretty old but works great. Should I try to get two 600.1's or 400.1's instead. Or will it just be good to get this one fixed. I think the shop only has like one 600.1 and maybe two 400.1's. I was thinking getting my money back and trying to get the two 400.1's if there isn't two 600.1's. And I was thinking to ask them if I could try them in my car before I get those. Just to be sure. what do you guys think.

Well definitely have the one 1200.1 returned. Thats bunk...500 is a bit much....but retail thats the going rate. I paid about 400 for mine about 2-3 years ago. I cant remember.
I also have two spare covers...one Onyx, and the other silver.
(the 400 did not include the two extra covers)

Should I get my money back and get the two 400.1's instead then. I think they will be under 500 for both. I think they only have one 600.1.

they sold you a "NEW" one....if you send it to PG, it's going to be Refurbished.

were they a Certified dealer? PG should honor the 3 year warrenty if so, and you will only be out shipping.
i don't think the 2 400.1s is a good compremise. they arent fan cooled, and you will still be 400 watts short of what you were before
