Battery woes

Well, I need a new battery for my car. I hear that is it damn near impossible to fit a Optima red top because it's a small factory battery. Anyone have any suggestions for a daily driver battery that will be used for my modest system right now? I would like a small battery for this and stay around the price of a Optima if possible. Suggestions?

What kind of car is it again?

I have a honda element and used those crappy half height batteries. had to modify the cover (well took cover off and added a plastic tube and drilled holes into it and butterfly nuts to bolt the top of the battery down with it). Cuz the original with the rectangle cover would not allow me to screw the yellow optima battery down (wouldnt fit). However some people on some other forums had better luck fitting it...(forcing it...etc)

2002 Saturn SC2, I took a look at it a few days ago and it appears to be the OE battery! Time for a change!

Who says you can't fit an Optima in there? I've done it a few times, IIRC you just need to trim a bit of the tray itself.

You can also look into the GM fit battery, it's a little smaller physically that then commonly used 800U.

Looks to be group 75 size. :? :?

And at the same time I'm kinda ready to try something new. I have had Optimas' in the past, and I'm ready for a change.

Stick with the Optima, it's the only battery I still trust.

I have considered going to a Deka battery, but not for reasons of power or reliability, just that they are small or can be bought that way and stashed away in the fender and such to fit my twin turbos easier.

Have you looked at the Optima D35 battery? It's about half the size of the normal Optima battery that you see everywhere

Where i live the Maxxima 900 blacktop and bluetop has taken over for the Optima redtop. Not sure about the dimension of the Optima but the Maxxima dimension is: Length 10-1/8 Width 7 Height 8.

Here is some powerfull batteries:

http://www.kinetikaudio.com/default.asp
http://www.anybattery.com/showitem.php?pid=10629228
http://www.roverworld.com/exide_maxxima_english.htm

These are batteries used by us stereojunkies, i guess you know about these brands, theyre all good alternativs to the Optima red and i think you may find some of them with smaller dimension then the Redtop but with equal or higher CCA, HCA, MCA.
