I think he may be referring to PG going out of business, which to my knowledge they have not.
Apparently I said PG would never (insert something I don’t even know or remember), and now they have…

What I was thinking perhaps ( them selling out to another parent company) or something.

That would make sense, but I wonder if he has me mistaken for someone else.
Both Jbondox and I were in agreement we did not see PG staying in business for very long, and I am willing to bet he is just as shocked as I am that they actually still are in business.
For one thing, I simply cannot see a company with zero marketing effort ever surviving in this bling driven industry. I never see anything PG related in any of the car audio magazines I read, or the web sites I frequent.
Maybe what Jbondox was getting at was the fall of the Xenon. I did not like the Xenon from the start, but once I had a chance to review a product, I felt it was a good amp, and I really liked it. I even own two of the amps today, a X100.4, and X600.1. After he had a chance to play with a Xenon (I could hardly call it a review), he still did not like it, and if I remember right he predicted it would be the downfall of PG. Well, today the Xenon is off the market, so that may be the point he was trying to make.

Hmmm..says PG?
Looks like they are still around.
RSD amps still say PG on them. their subs say PG on them.
Reguardless of if you like them or not...they are still around....how much longer...that is to be determined.

You were not banned because you thought they sucked balls, a lot of people thought they sucked balls, and I did not ban them.
It was highly frustrating though that you would never offer any reason as to why they sucked balls, other than “because they suck balls”. Not a very scientific reason if you ask me.
Anyway, back to today. I am still in agreement with you in that I don’t care for the direction PG went. But, like you, there is nothing I can personally do about it. I still cling to the old equipment and try to support it as best as I can, especially with keeping the horribly damaged amps up and running. I am a big fan of ZX, M, and MS amp, and always will be.
How are things going with Rockford? I know they have been mixing it up internally a lot, and even less products are made here in the USA. The whole speaker factory is now gone as well, so no more USA woofers. Are the amps still made here, of have they left as well?

I heard that everything was going overseas, I wasn't going to support it. So then came the determining factor... if everyone is overseas who to go to? JL... plus RF acted like chumps on an issue, and I said that was the final straw.
JL is known by everyone, it was asked for at my shop 100:1 so i said I wasn't wasting my time with people anyways, plus JL made a great deal with me... I use them exclusively for subs, amps, wires, and speakers... so far so good no issues at all.
The RSD sub did rock when I replaced the 10W6 woofer, though in JL's defense the woofer was old and bad to begin with... the rep I got it from was trying to pull a fast one.

I thought you were using alpine pdx amps too?

Keep me posted if you can on the JL line. I am considering a 300/2, and 500/1, but I want to know how well these new models last first.

As opposed to PG with zero market presence?

gave up on Alpine, i might just go over to Pioneer, and some Kenwood. I don't want Kenwood all the time, but it seems Pioneer has everything I want with their double dins, where Alpine looks like it has something right off an Atari system for menus...
JL is coming out with an equivalent to the PDX amps, however it does not use the ICE technology from B&O like everyone else does
I haven't had anything JL fail yet (KOW) besides a bum 10W6 in the beginning. Hey Lebron James screwed up every part of his vehicle except the audio system, which included every trim panel in the trunk... and never had an issue. In fact i gave the King, a single 10W6 to beat on and ZR speakers all the way around.
(BTW) the ZR's did very very very well, which was the closing chapter for MB Quart at Esoteric.

PG went cheap and in the end, its killing them.People will seek out and pay for quality; as in Zed Audio, Rolls-Royce, etc. Well known names in their respective fields with little to no advertising.

Not in today’s car audio market.
And I don’t really see people seeking out Zed Audio. Nearly everyone I know of has never even heard of Zed. There is no mainstream high end any more in car audio. There are a few high end companies, but they don’t sell to the masses, and the masses don’t want something high end to begin with.
Everyone has heard of JL Audio, and 75% or more see JL Audio as a “high end” company. Until JL starts selling at Wal-Mart, they will retain this market perception of being high end.

Another example of some of the best being overlooked because a company puts more $ into marketing hype than product. I miss the days when you bought an amp, you knew what you were getting. I used to view RF as brute power and PG as refined power. I've even noticed the 'quality' of the average install going downhill, replacing innovation with 'bling'. One old school install I recall was a simple looking install in Car Audio where the sub box used actuators to change the size of the enclosure to either SQ or SPL. No fancy chromed flames. No neons, just a clean install.
I know the average person would just drool over the chrome and lights, but I would rather go to a show and have people pass by all day and not give a second thought to my plain install and have one true enthusiast stop and say nice install. Just my $.02.
