Allo,
I have a amplifier 4 channel and Phoenix Gold XVR14. I want to install my front end (component MB quarter Q216 Signature), the rear fill (component MB quarter Q216 Signature) with my sub 4 ohms.

How to make connections mainly for the rear fill which must be installed on 8 ohms? Do not 2 serial filters risk to interact between them?

the XVR takes a stereo input, the XO will set the amp to a tri-mode wiring configuration which will not work well on a 4 channel amp.


There will be some interaction but the XO is designed to be used with component sets in mind.

ALSO NOTE: your sub needs to be 4 ohm or all XO ranges will be incorrect.

I would use simply 2 channels to feed the sub and the rear fill with the XVR and 2 chan on the front... Or briged 4 chan in 2 chan and feed XVR...

Forget 4 channels, I would like to know how to connect "to rear fill " Q216 Signature" in 8 ohms and to know if filters are going to interact?

you would still run them in series to achieve 8ohms

but

if you are using the front half of your amp to power your fronts independent of the XVR14 you could connect the Q216 to the front outputs of the XVR14 and still get stereo sound

But because I have 2 X-Over with my component Q216(QSD216), if I connect them in series, then filters are also to be serie...

Whether it is to connect on the channel of the front or rear, the XVR to "rear fill " connection is going to be mono and under 8 ohms... Look of spec of the XVR...


PS: Anyway, "to rear fill " it is always mono...??? (For setup audio SQ)

I see a few options here

1) Power the rear fill off of your deck -- you want it to be lower volume than the front, so the 15 watts you will get here should be ideal. Also, I would only run the mids in this case. Tweeters will just make the rear speakers easier to locate, and crossovers will drain what little wattage you get. Tweeters also tend to reflect in an automotive environment, but I find that the midrange is easily absorbed by the front seats if they are installed in the doors or kickpanels. Because of this, I feel that midrange rear fill can be beneficial for back seat passengers.

2) Buy another amp for the sub -- This will power your sub more reliably than a 4 channel amp, especially when you are trying to hook up multiple speakers. This also solves the issue of powering your rear fill... hook it up to the 4 channel amp, and use it as it is supposed to be used.

3) Run the rear fill and front speakers in parallel on the front channels. This way you can't fade the rear speakers, so they may overwhelm the front stage. Though you could reduce their volume with ceramic resistors, I personally wouldn't recommend taking this route.

4) Remove the rear fill completely. Technically ideal SQ is achieved with two point sources. You have two ears, so you want one input for each ear. The more speakers you add into the equation, the more difficult it can be to properly set up your imaging and soundstage.

If perfect SQ is less important to you than enjoyment for rear passengers, you can still take option 1, and leave it faded out when there are no people in the back.

The XVR is designed to run a system from a 2-channel amp. It's a pretty oldschool method that was designed to make flexible systems out of single MS amplifiers. I do not think it will be useful for you in this case.

I have another MS250. Then you would recommend not to install Q216 in " rear fill " and to instal that a single pair forward either to install 2 pairs is an option?

The idea to install one "to rear fill " was for the perfection, the passengers and also to improve the sound when I am going to remove the sub the winter...

Thus, I cannot install 2 X-Over (Q216) in series to obtain 8 ohms because they are going to interact...

Do you believe that to install simply my MS250 with the XVR would be interesting?
